TENDER BREAST FROM RADS

TENDER BREAST FROM RADS

TENDER BREAST FROM RADS Has anyone got tender breasts a year + on from rads? I didn’t burn and only got a little area of soreness on the skin but I felt the effects going on for almost a year post-rads of changes in my breast but now it feels quite tender. I am sure it is just the rads as had a check just a month ago with the surgeon but like a dork forgot to mention the tenderness.

Tenderness The area under my arm and where the rads went in my breast have always been tender since my Rads five years ago. I cannot wear underwired bras because they will make me sore. Interestingly when I had a mastectomy and recon this year the sorest bits of skin were where my rads had been directed. Also the scar line that crosses the skin where my rads went have taken some time to heal properly.

I believe that there is an element of permanent damage to the skin and flesh. I was always told that the soreness and tenderness I had were ‘normal’ after Rads.

I have found that the type of bra I wear makes alot of difference to the tenderness.

Not sure if this will put your mind at rest or not!!! Best thing to do is ring your surgeon or onc. an ask their opinion.

Thanks My soreness is more like deep tenderness. I have e-mailed the breast care nurse. I actually saw the surgeon in my office today but didn’t like to go up and say “Hey, Andrew, by the way…” they must hate it ! It is surprising in that I work for a surgeon yet still go all stupid in consultations.

swollen and sore breast —hi, ive finished radio and chemo, my breast is very swollen and very tender also very sore under and above armpit, any one else had this, would have asked specialist but my 1st follow up has been cancelled and i dont know when i,ll get to be checked. had stage1 grade 3 diognosed 17th dec 2004. havnt been seen since aug by cancer specialist so im getting worried

2B expected Spoke to the breast care nurse who said the changes to the cells in the breast tissue goes on for a considerable time, and I said, what since September 2004 and she said oh yes. She said if it gets too bad there are topical creams they can give me, and I said it’s not the skin, its deep inside, the whole breast really.

Anyway, now she said it’s normal I don’t mind, it is just fear that it was abnormal which was worrying me.

Just thought I’d let you know.

Thank goodness for you ladies I finished Rads end of July 05, no chemo, but over the last few weeks the treated breast has been really tender inside and is still pretty swollen.

I was getting quite worried as it is actually painful if I put any pressure in a certain area and I also have pain when I move my right arm across my chest, the pain runs from the bottom of the armpit and up the shoulder joint to the side of the neck.

Like all of you, I am fed up with going to the GP as I feel I am turning into a hypochondriac [or however you spell it] but I have no idea what is supposed to be expected or can now be considered normal, especially as this pain has only started over the last few weeks.

Oh well, I am obviously not going mad yet, so I will wait until next 3 monthly in March and see what is said if I still have the same problem.

Thanks ladies.
