Just wondered if anyone else has experienced a tender scalp when their hair grows back? I do remember it being very sensitive when it started falling out (way back in June/July) and feeling as if I had sore hair!! However, it’s been growing in for a couple of months now… started slowly when I stopped Epirubicin and went onto Xeloda (capcetabine) tablets… and it must be all of a cm long now There are areas on the the top of my head that are at times quite sensitive to touch…
Any others had the same?
Hi AliS
Think the tender scalp is quite normal as mine has started to grow back, and I too got the sore sensation and tenderness just like when it was coming out. It has now settled as I am getting more coverage. Its quite weird but a great feeling to know its coming back. If you have any E45 cream its worth just putting a bit of that on as it seems to help. Hope this has helped to reassure you and Best Wishes for Christmas.

Just found your posting after listing a question of my own about this. My head is really sore at the moment. I finished chemo in Jan 2007. My hair started to grow properly in june and I’ve had a sore head on a couple of occasions since then. I have a full head of hair now and went to the hairdresser in December. My head is very sore at the moment, on the crown of my head. The nurse at work thinks it may coincide with growth spurts.
Glad of this post. I too have a tender head keep thinking it’s something scarey. Mine seems more tender a few days after receiving herceptin. Mine is around the crown area. Love Eileen
Hello. I’ve also noticed tender patches on my head sometimes which have been worrying me so it’s a relief that other people have the same.
take care everyone
