Hello from Canada!
My mom had stage 3 cancer over 11 years ago. Just over a week ago I had to take her to the emergency department because of severe shoulder pain and swelling in the clavicle joint. Her xray and blood work were fine but because the doctor was worried that the swelling was possibly actually a tumor (the swelling has since disappeared) she ordered a CT scan. The scan results show 3 lytic lesions – one on the clavicle head and 2 in the pelvis area. The report shows that possible cause is: _ “mets, myeloma, or other?” _
She is waiting on a biopsy appointment and will have a bone scan today. We are terrified.
Has anyone had lytic lesions be something other than cancer/mets? I understand that lytic lesions could be caused by degenerative disease and arthritis, which my mom does have and hasn’t had treated or looked at for many years. We are just wondering if there is any chance that this could still prove to be benign.
I would appreciate any input…even if it’s not good ![]()
Thank you all xx
Hello Canada Daughter,
What a worrying time for you and your Mum. I can’t give you any answers, but I am BUMPing your post onto the front page in the hope someone spots it.
You could contact the helpline (they have an international number) to see if they can advise, or use the ‘email a nurse’ service too. I hope you get some helpful answers and that all goes well for you mum.
Your Mum has done so well, and hopefully will continue to do well, whatever they find the cause to be
Big hugs.
