I am just leaving for my surgery at the Marsden. I am on the afternoon list. I went out on your advice and had a couple of glasses of sparkling wine and it was nice and did me the world of good!!

Awww, thank you ladies, how lovely to come back on here and see all your good wishes. It really means a great deal.
It went okish. Well surgery went ok, but I didnt go down till four oclock, and then they had terrible trouble controlling my pain and i was down there till half eight, and had so much morphine I couldnt stop being sick all night, got out of bed this morning and buckled but luckily a nurse was holding me and managed to get back on the bed. Got home later today and feel not too bad, but very tired. I am in more pain this time, as would not let them give me any more morphine today as didnt want to be sick anymore and it seems to really upset my tummy.
I dont know if anyone else has noticed this, but this is the third time they have gone in in this area (one time on a lump thre years ago which was benign) and the two times with the cancer, so its scar tissue, is that why it hurts so much more. The nurse said today that when they open scar tissue up it hurts alot more.

SGL, glad you’re home safe and well. I had morphine after my C-section and it made me very sick too, I couldn’t even keep water in so I am going to discuss that in my pre-op assessement and see what they can do in terms of alternatives.
I hope you’ll have a good recovery.
Welcome home, SGL. Some people just can’t take morphine for the reasons you describe, but there are other pretty strong painkillers they can use, so if (fingers crossed you don’t have to any time soon) you need any kind of surgery, let them know you don’t tolerate morphine well and see if they can use something else.
Lots of drinks, lots of rest, lots of molly-coddling for you for the next few days!

I was the same Barbwill, they put me on a drip in the end because even a sip of water kept coming right up. It has happened before, but never thought about saying anything, but I will do for next surgery.
I managed to get some codeine Old and Lumpy from the em docs, so taking that, between the paracetamol, and the ibruprofen. I cant tolerate Tramadol either. I am defo one of these people who has side effects to most drugs, so dreading taking tamoxifen big time!!
I have had a nice day in the garden choccie and andie, sitting in the shade and my mum and dad came over and kept me company as OH had to work, and my dad went and got us all a chinese which was lovely. OH is off tommorrow and tuesday and I have various friends and family members coming to see me all week.
