The hell of waiting for results

Hi Ladies
I had a core biopsy and fine needle aspiration on 28th April. I go back for results tomorrow. As if I haven’t been nervous enough for 2 weeks, I get a message yesterday with dates for an ultra sound and MRI scan. I’ve not even received my diagnosis yet but now assume the worst that I have got breast cancer or else they wouldn’t be doing an MRI scan. Don’t know what the ultrasound is on either as they only left a message. I can’t eat, sleep or concentrate but I need to stay strong for my children. Life’s so unfair. xxx

do you have a breast care nurse yet if so give her a call she may alleviate your worries. Its horrible waiting for results.

Hi Suzie and welcome to the BCC forums

In addition to the support you have here please feel free to call our helpliners where you can talk things through with someone in confidence which may help. The lines are open 9-5 weekdays and 9-2 Sat on 0808 800 6000.

Take care
Lucy

Hatty I do not have a breast care nurse yet so am in limbo land. Xxx

sorry to hear that not a nice place to be, could you ring the helpline on here?

hi suzieq42, fingers crossed for u tomorrow.will be thinking of u . alex xxx

They’ll sometimes do an MRI if they’re not sure what’s what, so don’t take it as certain.
Everything crossed for you for tomorrow…whatever happens there’s lots of lovely people here to talk to…

It is, without doubt, the worst part of the whole process.

Try not to jump to conclusions (easier said than done i know) but there are so many different outcomes that it could be.

As Amber said the MRI is standard procedure in some areas and I had the US to double check their findings - this was at a ‘One-Stop’ clinic where a mammogram and US are routinely done.

You’re right - life is so unfair sometimes and don’t feel guilty thinking that but it’s still up in the air.

By this time tomorrow you will have more idea what you’re dealing with (or not having to deal with!). The advice from the others about calling the nurse is good - could you write down questions you want to ask now? It will give you a sense of purpose.

Best of luck for tomorrow. x

Suzieg42,
So sorry you’ve even had reason to find this forum, I’ll be thinking of you and hoping it goes well tomorrow.

Helen xx

Thanks everyone, I’ll be saying a big prayer for all of us tonight xxx
