The long wait for Biopsy results

Hi all, just posting whilst on the hideous wait for biopsy results, as I’m sure others have been in this position!

I found a hard lump at the bottom of my right breast, about 8 weeks ago, saw the GP 3 weeks ago, who referred on 2WW to breast clinic.

Saw the Dr in breast clinic who said the lump was indeterminate and could be malignant but could also be a cyst or Fibrodenoma (sp?). So sent me for ultrasound next day.

Had ultrasound, during which the radiologist seemed to suddenly shift from chatty to serious, they then said needed Biopsy and mammogram, as there was a mass in the milk duct. They weren’t keen to offer much reassurance in terms of benign causes etc, when I asked, and said just wait for the results.

Had the clinic letter today which noted all of the above but also added that there was reactive lymph nodes also on the right side. And again it just says they will discuss the biopsy and scan results in their MDT and be in touch regarding the outcome.

The radiologist said their MDT is a Monday and that’ll be 11 days since the biopsies so I’m really hoping I hear early next week!

I guess I’m just posting to see if anyone has had similar signs and symptoms and if it turned out to be cancerous, or benign? ChatGPT and Google just sends me in circles between feeling reassured and then sure It’s cancer, so I need to stop looking things up! But I figure real life experiences might help (either way!)

Thanks in advance!

Hi, the waiting is the worst, we all can understand how tough this time is and each appointment can lead to the next step as more results and tests are done… it’s very easy to go down a google rabbit hole especially at night. Try and distract yourself with other things if possible and make dates with friends and do the things that keep you happy. I know it’s tough. Your appointment will soon happen and then you will know more from the medical team. Sending positive thoughts x
