The waiting!

Thank you hopefully get answers tomorrow

Which surgery did you have

I couldnā€™t stand the wait, so I booked private mri for the 12 Feb, referred by the nhs consultant. the nhs one was going to be on the 20th Feb with them other weeks wait for the results so would have been 27th. They found more cancer on the mri so did another biopsy on the nhs on the 15th. Would have been probably on the 28th without the private mri, and then another weeks wait for those results. So now hopeful I will get those results today.

Obviously not everyone could afford that it cost Ā£1000 and when they found more cancer, my husband said you canā€™t cheat time!:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:It was worth it at the time as the waiting was killing me but
Iā€™ve gone from desperately going private to now burying my head in the sand, going back to work and hoping it was all a dream. Donā€™t even want the results today.

Hi I had the flap surgery were they take the fat from your tummy and put in ur breast and 11 lymph nodes removed from under arm xxx

How was that, seems like such massive surgery? Was recovery long? Do you have any feeling in your boob?

Thanks will do

Seems like a massive operation how are you doing

I walked into Nuffield to book it. V hard to get them on the phone.

It was big surgery I took pics of u want to see I have sum feeling but not all sum bits still tender my tummy scar healing so well though and the worst part was under my arm tbh itā€™s painful having lymph nodes removed I could lift my arm for about 4 weeks xx

Thank you, will get those pics after results today. Xxx

Im tempted to do the same to get a quicker appointment!
Hope you got some reassuring news today xx

So that was a pointless appointment today as been told I now need a ct scan on stomach and a full body bone scan to check if cancer has spread so still no treatment plan I am so pissed off and upset

Oh thats so frustrating! I really feel for you xx

Oh no. I was hoping youā€™d get some answers and a plan. Why all the scans? I got nothing like that. Just mammograms and ultrasounds and the biopsies. I wanted a scan to see if it had spread but they said theyd check sentinel lymph node whe they did lumpectomy. I feel your frustration. Its been 4.5 weeks since my lumpectomy and Iā€™m still waiting for the results. In the meantime I imagine stray cancer cells partying in my liver and lymph nodes which I know is silly but I can only think about the cancer and nothing else.
I hope they get these scans booked in fast for you. X

Im exactly the same, every ache and pain i wonder if its something i should worry about. Iā€™m even already worried about it coming back and i havent even got rid of the first bit, how stupid and pointless is that?!
Sorry thats not a very positive post, been on a downer this week.

@tori123 Iā€™ve been feeling low too. I just canā€™t believe itā€™s still 10 days till my results. And then there will be more waiting for radiotherapy and oncotype results. I feel like everyone is getting quicker treatment than me. 6 weeks from surgery is such a long time. I know this is irrational and I should be grateful but I have a friend in neighbouring nhs trust who had diagnosis, surgery, results, radiotherapy and started hormone therapy all in the same time its taken me to just have diagnosis and surgery. I must try to be more patient and more positive. X

MRI is routine and can really help. I had a lump measured at 2.5 - 3 cm on the scan. I was told that the size of my breasts would mean a mastectomy. After the MRI I was told it was 1.4cm and the surgeon recommended a lumpectomy. I quickly recovered from the surgery. It may not seem possible but there can be good news. XX

Thank you for posting that @tabbyc Iā€™ve only heard of tumours being measured bigger on the mri scans so thatā€™s a nice thought for me!

Mine was 27mm on mammogram and ultrasound, 23mm on Mri and ended up actually being 19mm when it was removed. So they can definitely end up quite different to the estimates and I think it is usually less - hope it is the same for you
