I was dx with a 3cm G2 IDC on 8th September, have had to wait a bit for my Op because my Consultant went on holiday for two weeks, WLE Oct 5th.
During the wait it seems that the thickening around the lump has grown quite alarmingly! Going from a pingpong ball size to a tennis ball - It’s even creeping up towards my armpit! What is in this thickening? Does it go away once the lump is out or do they have to remove it surgically? Any advice?
I know I only have a few more days to go for the surgery, but I’m really worried about this. P
Hi Peachez sorry have no idea what this could be.Did you have biopsies? Could it be a bit of internal bruising from that? Can you ring your BCN and ask her to see you? you sound so worried that even a few more days to surgery will seem too many days with this worry. Drat that consultant going on holiday but he will be well rested by the time you get him. Hugs Jackie

Thank you for your replies. I’m feeling less panicky now, the lump has gone down a bit so maybe it was swelling from the biopsy after all. The waiting for my Op is nearly over. I think my personal brick wall will be around facing up to the way I look afterwards. Even disguised so that I look normal, I will still know. I guess I’m frightened too, of how OH will react and if it will change things between us.
Today we went to visit a holistic centre for cancer patients attached to the hospital I will have my RT at. I cried when I walked in, I really didn’t want it to be me that needed a place like that.
All the staff were lovely and I’m sure I will use some of the services they offer. I think it helped OH that the person who talked us through everything was a man.
So all in all, feeling a bit better, sort of resigned now, just want to get the op over with and move on to the next thing.
