Third Chemo option?

Hi Ladies, I wonder if anyone can help at all?

I saw my oncologist yesterday before my sixth chemo due on Friday (3 x Tax and 3 x Fec) and he confirmed that the tumour has not responded as well as he would have liked to Chemotherapy, something I already knew myself really.

He has referred me to the surgeon for a week on Friday to see whether he has enough scope with the breast to carry out the mastectomy but has also booked me back in with himself in 3 weeks time in case we need to try a different chemo before surgery.

I am hoping the surgeon says yes we can go ahead but have any of you ladies experienced having to have a third lot of chemo and if so, do you know what it is likely to be?

Thanks ladies for any answers you can give.

Hi Scrapper - i have no experience to help you with - but i’m bumping this up for you in the hope that someone can help.

Good Luck

Lynn

I have had FEC that was partially effective, TAX that I did not respond to and am now on Xeloda (Capecetibine) and this does seem to be working, Your Onc probably has quite a few options since I’ve seen lots of other chemos mentioned on different sites.
Good luck

Hi Pat, sorry to hear things not gone as well as you hoped, as you know I have same dx as you with IBC,so I am interested in how you get on with this,I am sure your onc will work out the best treatment for you,I am thinking of you and send you a big hug , sorry I cant give any advice ,just keep your chin up.

Hi Lynvee- thanks for the bump

Hi francesw, thank you for your response, I have done numerous searches on different chemo’s but it is helpful to know which are given most frequently so thank you very much for letting me know about Xeloda. I am so glad that this is working for you and wish you continued success.

Hi Jean, I hope things are going well for you, I did see your post ‘very very happy’ and that made me smile. Thanks for the hug, stay happy and of course, I’ll keep you updated.

Hugs to all
