This may be a very silly question...

This may be a very silly question…

This may be a very silly question… …but, do men have ER+ and PR+ tumours? If you do , do you have hormone treatment like women and do you get hot flushes?
Sorry if I appear really ignorant, but this question came to mind in the early hours of this morning - while I was flushing!
Thanx chaps,
Love Flora

Flushing!! Hi Flora

Yes, most men who get breast cancer have ER+ tumours and have to take hormone treatment and I can tell you from experience that the flushes and everything else are horrible!!

I take ARIMIDEX just now but was taking tamoxifen for a short time. I can now empathise and well as sympathise with menopausal women as well as thas those having treatment for BC!!

Hope the flushes calm down for you.

Best wishes

Bill

flushes-- Yes Flora …I did all the 5 years I was on Tamoxifen, the seem to be less now I am taking femera

Mike

Not silly Flora, Men certainly do have hot flashes etc.
I was on Tamoxifen for 5 years, and have been off it now for nearly 2 years.
I had excess sweating, and put on weight, and also felt more forgetful than previously.
Whenever I went to a new chemist with my prescription, they would ask me whether it was REALLY for me? as if they could not believe that a man would be prescribed Tamoxifen.
I have not yet lost the extra weight I put on.

Femera Is the name just a coincidence or is it another example of ‘women only’?

Regards,

Denise

Denise Hi Denise

Yes, I think the medicine was designed and named with women in mind and they never thought men would take it.

I’ve been taking ARIMIDEX for four years now and it still isn’t apporved to be given to men.

It’s unfortunate that men don’t feature in any trial because we just take the drugs and hope they have as good an effect on us than they do in women. It’s either that or take nothing and face the consequences.

Best wishes

Bill
