Tickled pink

Actually the tops and things I saw were grey, not pink, they just had tinkled pink written in tiny writing on them at the bottom, so definitely not pink or fluffy.

Jane,

please dont be put off posting, sorry you have taken some comments personally. As has been said already, the pink topic usually brings a mixture of comments.

I was in Asda the other day also and saw many items i would like to buy, lovely pyjamas and nice t-shirts. Must admit do not like the name Tickled Pink, think they could have thought of something other than that as when you hear that phrase you imagine someone being delighted, and as we all know having a breast cancer diagnosis is nothing to be tickled pink about, but on the other side of the coin Asda do raise alot of money and and probably awareness of this disease so I am certainly not going to be offended by it at all !!!

Jane,
Please continue to post, the one thing you will learn on here is that we all have different opinions about things and fortunately on here we can voice them…which is good…because thats what life is about.

I for one am not that bothered about Breast Cancer Awareness month…I’ve never been a lover of pink…even when I was little…and I agree that maybe Asda should rename their campaign.

But that said…whatever campaign raises money or awareness is ok by me…the only thing that annoys me is the actual % of purchase prices that is donated…I’ve seen a dressing gown advertised for £30 of which only £3.00 is donated!!

Jane, don’t get upset. I have been posting on here for 5 years now, and the same debate surfaces every year.

I personally feel that anything sold in aid of a charity should have to display the amount the charity will receive from the sale of the item. I think in most cases people would be horrified by just how little that is.

yeah I must admit as much as I personally dislike the whole pink theme if the money raised found a cure I’d wear anything pink you fancy and I would be tickled pink.

As an earlier poster stated, the problem is that Asda never get enough stock in. My Mum and I were in Mum’s local store on September 18th and we asked when they when would have the stock in. We were told it would be in over the weekend 26th-29th. We went in yesterday to discover that the stock actually came in on Monday September 22nd and they had hardly any choice left (Mum is Betty and she was desperate for the Betty Boop t-shirt). I visited 3 different Asdas and was not able to get the top in any of them.

You wonder how much money they could make if they improved stock levels.

Jane/Croft.
Please please please dont be put off with not posting on here, as we have all different views on things. Any money raised is a good thing towards giving us support, helplines, treatments, and towards more research to find a cure.

I too am not chuffed on Pink, never have been, but I do like some of the products that are connected with donation to our BC cause, I am sometimes miffed at the small percentage that actually goes to the cause, but as they say every little helps…

The only downside i have on products for BC, especially on the lingerie, when they are supporting BC, yet, put donations onto bras that are not post surgery bras, and they dont do them… I mean Asda do one post surgery bra, but yet they have loads of pink colourful bras designs that are linked to donations to BC that are not post surgery or even suitable for wearing a prosthesis in them, they are lovely push up type bras, that would have my prosthesis sitting on my shoulder if they were pushed up !! , why cant they give us more colourful post surgery bras pocketed ones I mean…!!

I do however like the wellington boots, I bought a pair from Next last year and a percentage went to BCC and I love them, especially the weather we have been having lately, and it does brighten my feet up,! I will be wearing them on October, even when it is sunny!!!

Hello Jane,
Pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaase… dont be put off posting.
I have just re read your post and you sounded really cheery having just returned from Asda and discovered their pink lovliness.
Ruth

I bought pink slippers yesterday from Asda and am “tickled pink” to be wearing them. I’m also delighted that so many people are keen to raise money for this cause. I’ve bought items in past years and have always organised fund raising activities at work, all on a “tickled pink” theme. Collaegues have joined in with enthusism, even the guys dress up in pink. I never expected to find myself with breast cancer and am now truly grateful for the research that has gone into this disease, however it is funded.
No, I am not “tickled pink” to have gone through surgery, and now chemotherapy but can understand that fundraising events will be more successful if it is treated as fun.
For me, I’d love a bottle of pink champagne, some pink lip gloss to make me gorgeous and sit with my feet up, in my fluffy pink slippers, watching some chick flick!
My husband has promised me the champagne for Christmas, when my chemo should be over.
In the meantime I’ll toast to your good health in pomegranate juice.

I think most of the tickled pink stuff is fine but personally there is one thing which I feel is a waste of money and that is the little bite size cakes in Mand S . They are £1.19 of which 10p plus vat goes to BCC, sorry its just me but Id rather give the whole £1.19 to charity rather than have the wee piece of cake. (minor rant over)

Even better, why not make a cake and give pieces to people for a donation?

Just read an article about M&S pink stuff which said that ‘10% of your donation goes to Breakthrough’.

10%???

Where does the other 90% go?

I knocked my wine over in shock, which makes me even more b****y mad!!!

just read through comments on here too,if people dont keep donating, they will not be any nearer finding a cure, but even over the last 10 years things have improved,as I said if this was 10 years ago I WOULD NOT BE HERE…but as research progresses, more people have a chance of surviving this b****h of a disease, and research progresses because of FUND RAISING!!!

Why do people make a fuss about harmless stuff like what to call a campaign? Whats wrong with tickled pink? It all seems very sill to me

After my sister was diagnose with BC 8 years ago, I was always tickled pink to help raise money and awareness for the campaign, I even did a couple of moonwalks in crazy pink bra’s, and as i was diagnosed in July 08 i am still tickled pink that people keep raising funds and awareness for future generations, but I am not tickled pink to have BC but ASDA had to give their campaign a name, so what else could they have called it.

shirl

As I have said previously.I have worked for ASDA for 18 years, done all the BC promotions and collections,so was utterly shocked when “it happened to me”.I have to say on the other side the company have been exceellent in my return to work,so it does work both ways

Hi Jane,
please don’t be put off by peoples comments and keep posting.I don’t see what harm the ‘tickled pink’ is doing either as long as it’s raising awareness and money. If it was purple, green or blue someone somewhere would find something to complain about. And if you want to use the word ‘positive’ you use it girl!.I do because I am!

I don’t like the whole “pink” thing/“it’s a girl thing”. I do feel it triviaises what is still a life threatening disease and I certainly have n’t had fun or been tickled pink the last 2 years. I also have concerns about where the money goes so now give money direct to Cancer Research rather than allow any compeny to cream off 90% of what I spend. My favourite slogan at rpesent is “think before you pink”.

Hi All

I’m having a night tomorrow night to raise funds for Breast Cancer. Everyone has their own opinion on things personally i think “In the pink” which is what nights held in October are called, is a great thing it enables us to raise awareness to people who think that they are SAFE!! As we all know no-one is safe from this disease.

No-one is tickled pink to have breast cancer but awareness is a brilliant thing.

I don’t feel i’m doing anything degrading to breast cancer tomorrow night by holding an event, I’m just hoping to raise money for a very worthwhile cause…
