Hi Minks. There’s lots of different creams used by us ladies and some radiotherapy departments recommend a cream. Your radiotherapy department or BCN will have given you a booklet about radiotherapy that may recommend something. I used E45 as its so neutral and slathered it on at least 3 times a day. I also used an organic coconut oil overnight. Worked for me but lots of different creams have worked for others too. I think the general advice is nothing perfumed or with irritating ingredients. I can’t help you with the cording issue I’m afraid - did the staff help at your planning appointment? Perhaps talk to your BCN and see if there’s any recommended actions. Once you’re in position the treatment takes just a very few minutes - I timed the buzzing on the machine and it was firing for under 25 seconds! The staff were only outside for less than 2 minutes. It’s getting you into the right position that sometimes takes a little time but you very quickly get used to not helping and letting them move you around - it’s quicker that way too. Good luck and let us know how you get on. Jay x
Hi JayG
Thanks for replying to me, I’m new to the forum I wish I went on it when When I first got diagnosed this year I’ve had my chemo and mastectomy and could’ve been doing with talking to people who have went through the same thing. Thanks for your advice I will let you know how I’m getting on.
If you have the inclination peruse the monthly radiotherapy threads - lots of ladies have shared their experience and named the creams they’ve used - it may help you make a decision. I chose E45 because so many other ladies had used it and emerged with good skin. You’ll find something that works for you too I hope. Pop yourself into the August Rads thread and say hello - such a friendly thread and incredibly supportive. Good luck. J x
