I had breast cancer just under 5 years ago. It was a grade 3, about the size of a marble. I had it removed, followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Things didn’t go so well. I developed septacaemia after two chemo sessions ( FEC) and had to have the line removed. After that they gave up on the chemo. I had a month of daily radiotherapy and at the time managed fine, ok i was tired , but at the time accepted it. In theory all is now OK . But it isn’t. I still haven’t recovered my earlier energy levels. I am tired all the time and sick of it. I asked at the support group and was told by the nurse that I have just reached that age… my surgeon says its my age and thre normal tiredness of motherhood … .I’m 45 , is that so old?
Do other people have this trouble?
Hi snefru,
I had breast cancer two years ago, WLE, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. For me, all went well, Am now on Nolvadex and feel constantly tired, nauseaus, giddy and wondering what all this is about. I too. am sick of it. But I truly don’t know what the answer is. I am 47 - this is not old, neither is 45.We are not old snefru - just hugely unlucky. What to do - I’m glad I read your post - just re-assured me that I am not completley losing the plot - stay in touch

Thank you so much for replying. I don’t take any medication at all. My lump was non hormonal and so they say medication will make no difference. One thing I remember though. I overheard this when I was waiting for some treatment from a nurse talking to another lady. ’ I can’t tell you exactly how the treatment will affect you. It would help so much if I could, but we are all different, every one of us. No one is the same, so no one will react the same.’ Its very easy for a doctor, no matter how expert or well meaning to trot out his textbook reasons, but I am a person not a book. That treatment was a massive invasion of my body, both emotional and physical, I have a feeling its just going to take me a long time to heal.
Hi All
I thought I’d mention the Cancerbackup information about fatigue. There is a specific section related to coping with fatigue, which you may find useful, this can be found by using the following link:

I hope you find this helpful.
Best wishes
