I went for my fortnightly infill yesterday, to be told that I only have one more session of 60mls to go… I was really happy yesterday, although the area felt tight, it didn’t seem any diffeent than usual.
Today, I feel horrendous. It is so sore and tight, almost like the time initially after surgery. I’m not sure if I can handle another 60mls. I have a Victoria Beckham look about me now, all high and round.
For those of you have already braved this and seen it through to permanent implants, did it get harder towards the end?
Oh, I can sympathise with you ! I too have a tissue expander which was inserted when I had my mastectomy on 3rd October. Over the next few weeks, I was gradually “filled up” to my 700mls and I’d had enough by then. I found it to be very sore and tight - and also itchy, and yes very high and round (looked very odd from the side - lol !).
I have to say though (3 weeks down the line) that it’s settling down nicely now. It still feels tight but not half as uncomfortable as it was (my surgeon did say he would over inflate it, as rads could shrink it a little, and also when I have my reconstruction next year, I’m going up a cup size).
I’m sure it’ll all be worth it in the end for us ! In the meantime, keep taking those painkillers !
I too have tissue expanders. i had bilateral mastectomy on the 5th Nov and the surgeon half filled my left and only put a few mls in my right. my left feels fine now but my right still feels quite tight, more round the arm pit and muscle and the top. did you experience this. As yet i don’t know how ,many mls i need but the surgeon did say that they wanted to get as much in as possible before my rads start which is due at the the start of the new year.
