I am a new user. I am 41 years old. I have been diagnosed 10/2009 with primary breast cancer IDC TNBC, Stage II, Grade 3, 3.1cm, lymph node affected, having chemo prior to surgery ACx4 plus Taxol x4. Had the third AC and having the forth next week. I am very scared of the TNBC status.
Was wondering if someone could write to me from their experience, abt treatment(s), targeted treatments? Have anyone been BRCA tested? Level of Vitamine D tested? None of the two yet have been performed for me.
hi Christina, i have a similar sounding diagnosis to you, but my tumour is now 8cm. I have had 4xEC and 3x docetaxel, 1 more to go.
It is all rather scarey, there are a couple of triple negative threads on here that you may find useful. I am going to ask for gene testing but at the moment my oncologist want to just concentrate on the chemo side of things. how is chemo going for you?
take care
anna
Hi girls, my tumour was triple negative, 2.4cm, grade 3 with 1 pos node and a lot of vascular invasion. I had the same sort of treatment as Christine, only FEC instead of AC. Then 6wks of rads. I wasn’t tested for BRCA - infact I didn’t have a FISH test to see if I was HER pos until 16 mths later! It was back in 2004 and we’ve moved on a lot in the past 5yrs. Back then they couldn’t find someone with a similar diagnosis to put me in touch with so my consultant told me to come on here!!
I’ve always held faith in the fact that tn responds very well to chemo. I’ve got my 6th yearly check up just before Christmas. Josie xx
Thanks Anna…It isn’t all doom and gloom. Triple neg does react better than other breast cancers to chemo, and it’s the only bc type that is classed as curable (if you remain cancer free for 8years) Sadly I’ve got a friend whose hormonal bc has come back as mets after 12 years.
Good luck with your treatment. It’s nice to know that your chemo will be done and dusted before Christmas.
