Today i've become a metser!

Hi all,
My name is Caroline
Today i was diagnosed with liver mets.
I turned 40 eight days ago.
Happy birthday! You have stage 4 cancer!
I was diagnosed with primaries in august 2012 aged 36 and had mastectomy, chemo, radio, tamoxifen, preventative mastectomy (with double reconstruction), oophorectomy and hysterectomy.
doesnt seem to have worked too well unfortunately - but at least i gave it my best - which i’m ready to do again.
I start Paclitaxel on tues 2/2/16. Bring it on coz i have a 10 year old son to live as long as i can for.

So thats me.

Please introduce yourselves coz i want to reach out to others in my position.
Oh and if you have been on Paclitaxel can you let me know how youre getting on.

Hi Caroline,

Welcome to the club nobody wants to be a member of! Sorry it’s a terrible birthday present

I have been a metzer since 2013, I was also diagnosed at 36 (in 2005) - mastectomy, chemo, radiotherapy and oopherctomy

I also have a 10 year old son, who I was pregnant with when I was first diagnosed. He has been all the way with me on this and I am determined to keep going for him…and my older children (14 and 15)

i have bone, lung and liver mets now - I also tested positive for BRca2 last year (that would have been more useful to know 11 years ago - rye smile)

i have been on paclitaxel since beginning of Sept - weekly dose 3 weeks on 1 week off - good news is that it seems to be working at present - just finished 15th session.  I have cold cap so still have my hair, though lost eyelashes and very thin eyebrows. I have a few side effects, mainly peripheral neuropathy in my fingers and I get mouth ulcers. No nausea and eating well so I am not complaining.

Take care,

Steph xx
