Top tip for thinning hair when using cold cap

Hello Everybody

I have had 4 cycles of epi and cyclophosamide, I have managed to wear the cold cap for all of them (it wasn’t pleasant, but copable) and I have still managed to keep my hair even though it has thinned (scalp is showing through abit on top), can’t believe it as I had really thick hair, but at least I have saved it. I am wearing big sunglasses on my head to help cover it up. My husband wanted me to share it with everybody as he says it looks really good and draws your attention away from my thining hair.

Hi Emma,

Many thanks for sharing that tip.
I have had 3 doses of epi so far and am due to have my 4th & final one next fri then I’m onto 4 cycles of xeloda (tablet form) which doesn’t usually cause hair loss (fingers crossed).

Like you, I have worn the cold cap throughout & so far still have some hair left. I’m just hoping & praying that it hangs on through my last cycle of epi!! I also had very thick hair and although it has thinned loads and I can really tell the difference, other people can’t, especially those that don’t know me very well. My son’s friend even asked if it was a wig!

To anyone reading this who is thinking about using the cold cap, my advice would be to go for it! Like Emma says, it’s not pleasant but you get used to it after the first few minutes and it’s certainly worth it if you get to keep your hair.

Good luck & best wishes to all
