TRAK-ER Trial and Circulating DNA Tests (ctDNA)

I’m so sorry to hear this . I’m on the list whilst I accumulate my Anastrazole days . In my head , I have it that I may not be accepted

I hope you will be fine. They said it usually works to get a match so I was just a bit unlucky! All the best x

Thanks @66cherry . Hope radiotherapy went well x

@ali2023 yes radiotherapy went well with few side affects.xx

Hi

I was also not able to be profiled for this trial.

It does feel very disappointing doesn’t it.

The didn’t tell me why just unsuitable

I wasn’t accepted as I didn’t have any positive nodes, although my oncologist said I was eligible for the maintenance side .

I was wondering if anyone is on this trial. I completed 15 months on surveillance with negative bloods - my last results came back ctDNA detected, so now on the trial. I was randomised and on standard treatment and have now changed from Anastrazole to exemestane. Would love to hear from anyone.

Hi @YV4820

I was finally able to join the Trak-ER trial early this year, at the Western General in Edinburgh, so I’ve had 3 tests so far & the next one is in December. So far all the results have been negative.

How have you been feeling about the positive reaction? I imagine it’s given you a lot to think about, and worry about . Have you had to go through more scans, & any ongoing monitoring? I know they randomly allocate which arm of the trial you move on to.

I wanted to join the trial because I felt I wanted some possible “early warning” of recurrence, but actually dealing with a positive result is a different matter.

Please keep us updated on how things go for you, or send a PM anytime if you like.

Sending best wishes & thinking of you, Jules X

I’m so pleased you are on the trial - and Edinburgh, my home town! It’s all so daunting but feeling you are being closely monitored gives some reassurance.

My positive bloods came on month 15 (5th round). I think I was getting a bit complacent so it threw me. I had been travelling up to London every 3 months for surveillance but now on the trial I’ve transferred to Exeter (which is much closer).
All scans (CT & MRI) were clear which is a relief.
Unfortunately I wasn’t randomised onto the trial arm but selected for standard care. I had been on Anastrazole for over 5 years but now changed to Emestane. I will be monitored (initially) every month then it will be every 3 months and scans every 6 months - for 5 years unless anything is shown on the scans.

Strangely you don’t get to know the trial bloods, something I need to find out why.

Keep in touch and hope your clear run continues. x

I’ve recently started the TRAK-ER trial at the Manchester Christie. I know what you mean about reminders of past treatment. Going for the first trial visit was almost exactly 7 years from the day I walked out after my last chemo. I wasn’t expecting the strength of emotion and I felt really triggered by walking back in. Plus the Trial Consultant turns out to be the same person who planned my chemo regime 7 years ago! Anyway, I’ve had one blood result back which was negative and initially was thrilled, but I’ve read another thread on here where someone has had several negative results and has now had a positive. I had been thinking about maybe stopping the Aromatase inhibitors as I’m on yr 6 but I must stay on them to keep on the trial. So I’m just feeling that nothing has changed and deep down that I will eventually have a secondary cancer aomewhere along the line.

@YV4820 thank you for sharing with us that you had a positive cDNA result. I hope you are doing ok, and are comforted by the fact that nothing was visible on scans :folded_hands: Do you mind me asking how long it was after your blood test that they let you know? I never hear anything, just get a call 3 m later to get my next appt booked. The trial info sheet says they’ll tell you either way, but for some reason my team that doesn’t do that (and I do find that quite stressful). My surveillance stops at the end of the year at which point I will exit the trial - and already I’m getting worried about how will I know if it’s come back without this screening!!

Thank you for reaching out, it’s great we can talk to others with our concerns. Others experiences can help tremendously during uncertain times.
I used to go to Royal Marsden in London and they give me a call around 10-14 days after bloods (all depends on how busy they are). During that call, they arranged my next appointment. I use the MyChart app where you can view your bloods - perhaps you could ask if they have a similar app?

I hope everything works out for you. You must ask if there is another trial you can continue with but I hope you remain all clear. Perhaps your GP can do regular bloods - what to look for? I was worried what would happen after the 3 year surveillance. There seems no clear answer….but what’s new!

All the best and please do keep in touch with how things are going. x
