Has anyone had experience of passing through an airport with full body xray scanners wearing a prothesis I am wondering what to do as I assume it will show up
I went through Manchester last year and it was fine - didn’t appear to be any issues. I actually seem to get stopped when I go through one of those security gates!
Enjoy your hols wherever you go.
“Shame on him who thinks ill of you”
Hold your head high and don’t apologise for having survived cancer. I’m sure they do show up, and the staff should have been well trained to know what it is and why, anyone who queries it needs educating (and possibly reporting if they are in any way offensive). Have a great trip.
Hot tip: make sure that when you have to take off the belt, your trousers won’t fall down; that’s much more embarrassing!
Hey there,
there was a thread about this some months ago and the general consensus then was they probably show up but that the staff have had training and shouldn’t give any indication of having noticed, and other passengers shouldn’t be able to see the screen - so if you are feeling shy about it you should be fine. I know when I’ve been patted down they have noticed but never say anything or look at me funny or anything.
I seem to have become a bit of a radical prosthesis wearer…pointing out to all and sundry how they have failed to take into account that the woman in front of them may have a prosthesis …my latest being at a facial someone had bought for me …the beautician said, OK take off everything on your top half and lie down…so I said, OK I will but where is there a flat surface to put my prosthesis on, and maybe you need to think about what you say cos loads of women with prosthesis may not want to be taking it/and their bra off…
its a bit knackering but its just how I am…
enjoy your hols
