Travel Insurance during Chemo

Hi - Im sure this info is on the site somewhere but i cant find it!! So, anyone managed to get travel insurance DURING CHEMO? I really want a holiday and sunshine during August and dont trust the English weather. Had two refusals so far (InsurePink and Freespirit)and spent a whole morning at it!! So any tips would be FAB!!

Don’t wish to be doom and gloom but I couldn’t get travel insurance while I was under investigation for a recent recurrence scare, and I couldn’t get it for my husband when he was awaiting endoscopy. I think given the chances of infection during chemo the insurance companies are going to be pretty unwilling to take you on. Hope I’m proved wrong tho.

Hi Nina - I hope you are wrong too - but I think you may be right!! I got insurance mid chemo in 2009 for Primary BC, but now it is secondary it is all a bit more complex!! I think I may have to keep fingers crossed for good weather in the UK!! But I will make a few more phone calls first…

Sorry you are having these problems- as you know, I’ve been trying to get insurance for a holiday in Europe + it’s just not happening! Aside from a hideous quote of almost £2.5k (!) I got rejections, mainly due to being mid chemo. We have decided to take a chance + not get insurance+ rely on the e111 card thingy!? we have full cover with our bank for everything non-bc related so that will have to do us.
Have you checked with your onc about the possibility of taking a chemo break? Could be an option…or not?
As if life isn’t difficult enough for us eh- surely we deserve a bloody holiday…!

£45 for a week or £54 for two weeks to France MID CHEMO - very reasonable indeed!!

The lady was so nice on the phone (after talking to numerous dragons yesterday!!) and wished me well! A refreshing change.
