Travel Insurance - Is this too expensive?

Hi All

Haven’t posted for a while,iv been trying to get back to some normality(if thats possible)
A couple of weeks before diagnosis i went to Florida for 3 weeks and had the holiday of a lifetime.
Needless to say I want to return and re-live that holiday!

Apart from the breast cancer I got blood clots on my lungs, however they have have been treated and have gone.

I have found a holiday for next year and have been ringing round for travel insurance, but the cheapest I have found is £756 just for me.

I know it is probably the clots that are bumping the cost up with it being a long flight, but was wondering if anyone had a similar experience that could recommend an insurance company.

That does seem expensive, but it is hard to know without knowing your whole history. How far out from treatment are you? If you have just finished treatment and have some unfavourable characteristics the quote may not be that unusual.

I found Insure Pink (which is on the web) to be the least expensive for North America and the most knowledgeable for screening breast cancer. In the past I have used Freedom Travel, which also is good at screening. Judging from the price you were quoted, I would say that the blood clots are bumping things up a bit, although probably not that much: North America is generally a very expensive area, especially if you have finished treatment very recently.

Thanks for your response.
I finished Chemo last June (07) and finished warfrin oct 07.
I too think it is the blood clots with it being a longer flight I suppose they are reluctant to cover me.

I have been trawling through them all again today and was getting sick of the “no” “No” “no” when I tried JD Insurance (01689 859102)
Spoke to a very nice lady and went into detail. She gave me a quote of £125.50 for a family annual cover.

Now Im sat here thinking thats toooooooo cheap!!!
Iv just tried ringing them to confirm it, but they are shut now till monday.

Hope the holiday doesn’t go between now and then!!!

Someone from Freedom was suppose to be phoning me back but hasn’t.

That seems very reasonable but like you i would wonder if it was too good to be true!
I might give them a call myself,
