Hi Marge
I know it’s not much help for your holiday in August but keep Marrs Insurance in mind when you’re 12 months post-treatment as one of the questions in their Medical Declaration is “Have you undergone any treatment for cancer in the last 12 months”. If you can answer “No” then they should cover you for bc at a very reasonable price. I currently have an annual policy with them (including cover for bc and hubby too!!) at a cost of £71.
Best wishes
Jo

my aunt, who has secondares in her bones mnaged to get cove through Marks&Spencers and she said the Post Office are quite…don’t kno if this will be of any help???

Jo Thanks for that Jo, I was going to try them again after April, but they will not given you a second quote on the same holiday Handy to know that !

Silly question for Jo Sorry if this sounds like a silly question but… if you are still taking Tamoxifen/Arimidex after having chemo/radio would this be a ‘Yes’ to the Marrs Insurance Medical Declaration asking if you have undergone any treatment in the last 12 months? Just wondered that if I were to put ‘No’ and it would then possibly be a ‘get-out clause’ for someone like them if, God forbid, I were to need to claim.

Granmum
Medical Screening Granmum, when I phoned up about my quote, I spoke to a very informed young lady, who asked me all the relevant questions, which are set in stone for them. Initially I told her the situation, then she went thro the screening etc and asked if i was on medication now, or strong painkillers
Hope that helps

Message for Granmum The Marrs Medical Declaration actually asks whether you have received treatment for cancer, other than regular medication, in the last 12 months. Just to be on the safe side, I told them I was taking Tamoxifen (just changed to Arimidex) and was assured that this was considered to be regular medication and as such, I was covered for everything related to bc.
There are a few other health questions you have to be able to answer as well but I think these are pretty standard with all holiday insurances.
Hope this helps
Jo
Travel insurance I had trouble finding reasonably priced travel insurance to cover my holiday in June 2006 to USA I was only 6 months post surgery and I am taking tamoxifen. I have my insurance through my bank account with Lloyds and when I phoned them to ask about cover for myself they covered me but for everything other than anything related to the Breast Cancer, which was OK although a bit worrying due to the thrombosis scare with the tamoxifen, I just made sure I wore the stockings and drank plenty and walked whenever I could. I wouldn’t have gone but my son was getting married in San Francisco .
However this year when I go to Goa in March Lloyds have upgraded the insurance and I can now be covered for it all for just £58, which I think is a bargain because the insurance is free anyway.
So if anyone has a Lloyds Bank Account see if they can help
Hi Marge,
Have just seen your posting. How you doin?
Do ring Bradford and Bingley. I rang them last September when you and I were both still on chemo. I got annual cover for myself and my husband for £70.00 ( Europe only ).
All the other companies wouldn’t quote whilst I was still on treatment. It is quite usual to exclude pre existing conditions. I have had rheumatoid arthiritis for 30 years and that has always been excluded on my travel insurance.
Have been away twice since finishing chemo and have had no problems. So long as you have your possessions covered and health insurance for any problems not associated with BC you can go and enjoy with a clear conscience. You deserve it.
Best wishes.
Luv Pam
Thanks Pam Thanks Pam, I will try them on Monday, I have got some quotes excluding BC, but really wanted to include it if poss…just in case cos I have had cellulitis in my radiated breast , started two weeks after the end of rads, was told by the bc nurse to let it settle, then when I saw the onco in Jan, she put me on antibiotics. Imagine going all that way practically problem free, then right at the end Hey ho that’s how it goes !!
This holiday is not till August, so my dilema is do I wait till one year from diagnosis for quote, or go for it now
How are you doing yourself ?? Nailart has finished her rads this week too. she may post soon
take care

Holiday Insurance Have you tried JD Consultants?? Telephone number 01689 856984 I have managed 2 years in a row to get family insurance for £50. You do have to answer questions but not too bad - worth a try.
