Hi to all out there
this is just to let you all know about a good company i have found for travel insurance - insurepink .com they also have a telephone contact no 0800 022 3213. The telephone staff were extremely helpful and pleasant and i got a really good qoute for a trip to USA - £47.90 for a 4 day trip to Washington - I am only 1 year on from diagnosis and had chemo and radiotherapy, and have been quoted mega amounts by other companies!!! so if you are having problems getting travel cover give them a try
The only problem with InsurePink is that they don’t cover those of us with secondaries and it is important for a lot of us with secondaries to have cover. I never used to have my b.c. covered before but used to tell them that I’d had a diagnosis of b.c. but didn’t want it declaring as what was I going to get ill with??
I find it a bit ironic that InsurePink don’t cover people like myself as it was originally set up with someone who has had breast cancer!
Has anyone been able to find out what the current situation is with Aberdeen? I don’t seem to be able to get onto Page 1 if there is a comment there!
I’ve just been on the phone earlier today to Aberdeen Insurance (they’re a broker - mentioned umpteen times on previous threads) and the girl was very helpful. I was quoted £65 for an annual policy, including the winter sports’ cover (which was a bit extra)… am going skiing next month. There is a standard £500 excess for any claim re breast cancer, but what on earth can happen re that during a week’s skiing?! It’s not as if it’s a heart problem or something that could flare up, so I’m comfortable with that. As my initial diagnosis was less than a year ago, the excess is slightly higher. However, she did say that the company that underwrites that policy is evidently withdrawing from March, and although my policy would still be valid for the year, the policy may not be available to new folk from March. She asked where I heard about their company, and when I mentioned this site, she said they’d had lots of enquiries from here! Guess that’s good news… anyway, she’s sending out details, but I think I’ll go with it, considering difficulties others have experienced. I had surgery, chemo and finish rads next week… Not sure what the situation is re secondaries…
I understand from others on here that they cover secondaries. Pity they’re not offering it after March as I’m not sure of any other insurance company that will offer an annual policy.
Envy you that you’re going skiing. We used to go skiing twice a year for 10 years (summer and winter) and I do miss it but when I said to my oncologist about the possibility of skiing again I think she thought I’d finally lost my marbles as it’s in my spine plus I had a fracture so guess it’s a no!!
Still, at least I’ve done it which is far better than wishing that I’d done it when I’d had the chance. I used to love the feeling of wellbeing sitting on the chair and no noise just the sun, mountains and snow!
