Hello everyone I had a lumpectomy a couple of months ago and started FEC last month, 2nd treatment was due yesterday but blood counts were low so it has been postponed, I was very disappointed having psyched myself up and can’t have it until the 9th now.
Anyway enough moaning, I overheard another patient saying she wore a travel sickness wristband and this really helped as she didn’t need the anti-sickness pills. Unfortunately I didn’t have a chance to get any further details before I was kicked out. Has anyone heard of this or used one?
I used the seabands all through chemo and never suffered from nausea. I bought mine from Teso and they cost about £7. I used to put them on the morning of my chemo and left them on for about 7-10 days continually (you can wear them while you sleep).
I tried them too… but they didn’t work for me. I had them anyway for to try and help with occasional travel sickness. Mine were Boots own brand, bought a few years ago. Worth a try… they might work for you!
I wore them also bought mine from boots cost about 7 pounds i think, used to wear them from day of chemo for about 4 days or so i still took all the anti sickness meds though. They did help with the neausea feeling but dont think they would work on their own without any meds not for me anyway.
Best Wishes

I used them also through chemo but also had all antisickness they offered I think they helped-my recommendation is go for everything that will blitz any side effects.

Hi Sharon
I used Seabands half way through my epirubicin Tx and I did notice that my nausea reduced. Clinical trials have shown that they are effective and I think they’re definately worth a go. Just make sure that you position them correctly on your wrist. I work in the medical/pharmacy profession and would recommend that they are used in conjunction with prescribed anti-emetics and not as a substitute. Also, take the anti-emetics even if you have no nausea. Once the nausea has kicked in, the drugs are not as effective.
Didn’t realise I was missing my job so much… hope I don’t sound like a ‘know-it-all’ because I’m not! Just my own experiences and experiences with other patients gives me a good overview. I hope you manage to control the sickness.
Thanks Carly and everyone else, I bought some today hopefully I can at least reduce the anti-sickness drugs as the thought of constipation again is so grim…
