Hi all, just wanted to share my story. I found a small pea sized lump which I didn’t really think anything of - I actually ignored it for a few weeks! I eventually went to the doctors and was referred for an urgent scan - my mum had breast cancer so they didn’t want to leave it. They picked up the lump on ultrasound and he said it might just be a calcification. A biopsy was taken “just in case”. A week later I was told it was cancer. My doctor couldn’t believe it was picked up on ultrasound because it was only 1.5cm. I was sent for an MRI scan. Then I had a mammogram and a second ultrasound. Lymph nodes all appeared clear so no tests were done on them. Mammogram actually showed an extra 2.5cm of lump - which ultrasound and MRI scan didn’t see! So first plan of lumpectomy and chemotherapy were thrown out and it was decided to go straight ahead with chemotherapy treatment! Before all of that I am currently having fertility treatment to freeze my eggs. I have no children and it is in my life plan to have a family so I told my doctor it was important I was referred to a fertility clinic. I have about 10-12 days to go before egg collection - everything is crossed!!
I’m having 8 sessions of chemotherapy - 4 of AC chemotherapy and then 4 of Docetaxel. My doctor has said he’s going to “fry it” because I’m young and I can take it, and it is going to increase my chances in the future and I will be cured in the end.
On Tuesday 2.8.16. I cut my hair. It was quite long and I didn’t want to waste my locks. So I am donating my chopped off hair to The Little Princess Trust - they make wigs for little girls who have lost their hair through chemotherapy treatment. When I cut my plait off it was 9 inches long!!!
So that’s me and I’m ready to kick arse!!! Thank you for reading.

Hi Tattybear,
so sorry that you have to deal with this so early in your life, it just seems to be so unfair, doesn’t it?
So brilliant to read, how you are tackling some of the issues you have to deal with, because of this diagnosis. And fabuloous to read what you have done with your hair. I did the same.
There will be much support for you here and any questions you may have - we are always happy to answer to the best of our ability. Googling anything is not the right route for many, as there is so much, often not properly proven and outdated stuff out there.
