Hi , I am wondering if any of you ladies have had problems with a numb chin , altered sensation to teeth, lips etc. my sister has had some problems for a few months . Oncologist thinks something is pressing on trigeminal nerve but c.t scan of head and jaw X-ray show nothing. Her C15-3 has started to go up again and her sinus’s are painful sometimes . Has anybody had any problems with there mouth ect, if so what treatment did you have . The oncologist said something about radiotherapy ? . Thank you ladies , all the best with your treatments x
Bump to get on latest posts x
Hi flo, is your sister on any treatment at the mo? sometimes treatment can affect your nerves. I had this when i was on docitaxol, I also had some strange facial sensations when i started letrozol for a few weeks, CT scan showed nothing also, it did go away eventualy. How long has she had it?
Pumpkin
Hi pumpkin , yes she is on halaven , the new chemo but a numb chin started just before she started this, when she had fluid build upp to pleural . The pleura appears better and her lip remained the same until recently, she feels like she has a fat lip, her teeth feel strange and now she had some sinus pain. Her tumor markers have gone up , so don,t know what is going on again . So fed up. chemo has brought markers down nicely for 3 months, now what ?.she has already had quite a lot of chemo , feeling rather down and need something to work more than 5 months . Hope your treatment is working well .are you still on letrozol ?
Hi flo, Yes i am still on letrozole, been five months now last set of scans in december were stable. This is my fourth line of treatment so i know what you mean, but that is what fighting this disease is all about, things stay stable for a while then often we need to change treatment. Some people are very fortunate and find a treatment that keeps them stable for a long time. I hope this happens for your mum. I hope that she gets to the bottom of what is causing this and gets something to sort it out.
best wishes

Hi Flo,
Since the last 2 weeks I have a numbness on my chin and teeth- left right bottom of my mouth. I am on xelloda.Saw my Oncologist and he thinks just tokeep an eye for now…
Hi flo,
although not related to chemo treatment etc, I was diagnosed a few years back with trigeminal neuralgia. The pain was excruciating. Could not open mouth enough to eat solid food ( and it was over Xmas) so had liquidised food and was on oral morphine. sinuses were painful to say the least too! I went to the dentist and explained what was happening and to cut a long story short one of the roots of my wisdom teeth had started to press on the nerve. As he was pulling the tooth out I I could feel the pain and pressure releasing. By the time the tooth was out no pain whatsoever and have not suffered since. Point to note my wisdom teeth had never played me up before and have only had 1 filling in the last 35 years. So my teeth are in pretty good nick but it built up in literally a matter of 2 weeks! Maybe a dentist trip maybe worthwhile
