Hip Hip Hooray! Just thought I’d share my good news with you all! Had my yearly mammo/check up today and have had an all clear.I was dx with a very aggressive 2.4cm triple neg tumour with spread to nodes just before Christmas '03 and I’m still here- and NED four years later!!! When I was first dx I didn’t know were to turn (I knew no one with a similar dx)until my consultant told me to come here- It sure helped to know that there are others like me out there!
Joseymarie
As a fellow triple neg who was only dx in July this year its very heartening to read your post. Thank you for posting.
Wishing you a very happy christmas and healthy new year

Well done Josyemarie, that is just fabulous news.
Thanks so much for spending the time to come onto the site and let us know, it really does give us hope.
Can I ask what treatment you received?
Many thanks, A xx
I had a lumpectomy followed by chemo ( 4xFEC and 4x Taxol) and 6 weeks radiotheraphy.Don’t know if it’s helped or not but I gave up dairy produce after my dx -well it sure hasn’t done me any harm!
Regards Josie xx
Thanks Josie. The treatment did the biz for you!
How do you compensate for not eating diary produce? and excuse my ignorance but what do you put in your tea and on your toast?!
Thanks, Andrea xx
Hi Josie,
Thank you for sharing your story, it is a real comfort to read such a positive outcome.
Why did you give up Dairy???
Do you put soya milk inyour tea and eat soya yogurts.
I would do anything that would help me be NED after all my treatment has finished, I do rather like cheese, might have difficulty giving that up for ever!!! But if it means a long survival…I would do it.

If you want to read more about cutting dairy out of your diet… in relation to bc, read Prof Jane Plant’s book… “Your Life in Your Hands”… a lot of the professionals don’t necessarily support her views, but it certainly makes for interesting reading…

Hi girls,I gave up dairy produce after reading Jane Plant’s book during chemo.I’ve been a vegitarian since my teens but did eat an awful lot of cheese which I do still miss- vegan cheese is a very poor substitude! I take soya milk in my tea but actually prefere green tea these days.I must admit I have more energy now than my pre BC days!
Regards Josie xx
Thanks Josie,
I may give it a try, love butter on my toast though!

So did I Andrea! Now I use a soya dairy free spread instead! But it’s a small price to pay for the peace of mind it’s given me knowing that I’m doing my bit towards fighting this decease.I can make a wicked dairy free apple crumble and Swedish Glace ice cream is nicer than the real thing, I certainly don’t have a miserable diet!!

I’m still here and feeling well too just over 4 years after a triple negative lots of nodes diagnosis. Triple negative is getting to be a bit more in the news these days and there are some myths developing…like its always more aggressive than other kinds of breast cancer…not true…its all much more complex.
Not been as lucky as you josyemarie and got regional recurrence in April this year which is still active so about to go onto 4th lot of chemo. (did AC and taxotere for primary, xeloda and navelbine for recurrence and on next to carbplatin and gemzar)
Anyone who’s not heard the Jane Plant debate before…please don’t panic…nothing proven at all on going dairy free. Do a search of the site for earlier debates on this.
Jane
Hi Jane,
Have tried searching…nothing came up!! I am still not good with PC but put in Janet Plant…no results found.

I was diagnosed with grade 3 triple negative BC with spread to lymph nodes in February 03. I was treated with E-CMF and radiotherapy and currently have no evidence of spread. I have not given up dairy, chocolate or anything else and enjoy the things I like in moderation. If going dairy free makes anyone feel better then go ahead but as far as I know there is no evidence that excluding dairy from your diet completely prolongs survival.
best wishes

Its Jane Plant not Janet! Click on Search at the top of the page and you should get some results (I did and I’m hopless on a computer!)
Jane
Glad to know you are still feeling well Jane and wish you lots of luck with your chemo! I’ve been very grateful over the past few years for your sound advice!
Hello everyone and Merry Christmas to all. I was diagnosed in Dec '02, triple neg no nodes involved. Five years down the line and I’m happy to report NED. I had lumpectomy, chemo (4 FEC, 4 Taxotere) and five weeks radiotherapy. Not given up anything really - although currently on WeightWatchers to lose weight so moderating intake of crisps and sweets!
Be well girlies and a very Happy New Year to all on the forums and also the BCC moderators and staff.
