Hi Fairfield

Really sorry to hear you have had this diagnosis, but we have all been there. It is really really scary but YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS.

I am 38, was dx in July , with grade 3, I too am triple neg. I had chemo first, followed by mastectomy and at present I am on week 3 of 4 weeks of rads. It is a horrible journey and apart from my daughter being critically ill 2 years ago - this has been the scariest time of my life by far. No-one except for those of us who have been diagnosed can understand how you feel, but rest assured you will get plenty of support on here. It gets easier once you know what treatment is ahead of you - then you can prepare yourself and sort of get on with it.

I too have a 14 year old daughter - and its scary of the kids too. How old are your children?

Please try not to be scared, altho I know thats easy to say - I was petrified. Just ask any questions on here as you go along - you will always get answers from all the wonderful women on here.

Please take care and let us know how you get on
Sending lots of hugs

Hi Fairfield

Don’t panic, I know that’s easy to say… I didn’t have the same results as you but there are many on this site who have so I hope that they can offer some comfort to you.

Hi,
Im triple neagtive too. I was diagnosed back in dec 06 had chemo, taxotere and FEC, surgery and then radiotherapy. Wheni was dx i was 28, fought through the year of all the treatment and was very positive about the whole disease. I believe that we can all fight this by keeping positive and giving your body all the good nutrients it needs to fight of the bad cells.
I was diagnosed again in jan 08 and am undergoing treatment again. As im triple negative ive been given Avastin, carboplatin and gemcitibime. Im still 100% positive that we can all fight this disease.

It maybe hard at first with everything going on in your mind and al those questions, ask lots to get a fuller understanding, me and hubby looked on the internet which will give you all the information you need!

Keep a positive mind.

Good luck.

Hi Fairfield,

I was triple negative and can remember that,’ oh B**R they are sending me away from the hospital with no follow drugs to help me fight the cancer’ feeling. The worry doesn’t go away but I can assure you with time it does go further in to the back of your mind.

I can not say things will be fine because lets face it things have changed for us and there is no going back, however things are just different now and in time you will cope just as sparkler says. And as Celia says try not to panic. If you type ‘triple negative’ in the search section you will see lots of threads on triple negative. I know they really helped me, in fact one of the first postings I made was asking what triple negative meant. I went away feeling much better.

Take care

Carol

Hi fairfield I’m triple negative too and it is scary but it is not the worst possible dx.There is lots of new research into triple neg at the moment and in the beginning you will get the best chemos available. There is some evidence that chemo works well on —bc.You will find many threads on here dealing with our sort of cancer with as much information as you want. You are not going to die now,we all die sometime!Good luck and love from horacex

Hi fairfield ,I too was triple negative diagnosed in 2003 and still going strong. I was on the tango trial and had radiotherapy and mastectomy and just about to be reconstructed. It is a horrible jorney but although life will never be the same it can still be good . I no longer think about it every day but have just got on with life. I have a daughter who is 10 and was 5 when diagnosed . I too thought i would die before she even started junior school but now I am looking forward to her going to high school. Good luck. Ps i also had 4 nodes involved.

hi
I was triple negative diagnosed in April 07, had WLE for 9mm lump, no node involvement. although had to hav resection has hadnt quite got clear margin on one edge. all came back clear. Then i just needed 25 sessions of radiotherapy including 5 boost to scar, i wasn’t offered chemo at all in fact oncologist advised against it. now I’m worried i should have had chemo and am scared the cancer will still be there or will back. Have check on March 20th when i presume they will do a mammogram. I’m so scared of going and like some of you have said no-one seems to understand how you feel. Except on here of course. People just assume you are coping as outwardly I suppose I am!
Much love
Ruthy

Hi,

I’m not triple neg but ER+, but I do know a lady (the mum of a good friend of mine ) who was diagnosed triple neg 8 years and she’s absolutely fine now. She says she barely thinks about it anymore! She had WLE and 5 weeks rads but no chemo. Thought this might give you a bit of hope.

Take care
