Tripple Negative

God evening lovelies

I’ve been stalking these pages today, trying to pluck up the courage to post. This BC is scary stuff and like all of you are totally overwhelmed by it all.

Ive been diagnosed tripple negative. I’m still confused what this means as was given wrong results to start off so had two conversations with the consultant! Have oncology appointment week Tuesday and MRI on the Wednesday, having some clips inserted. Have been told will probably be sent for genetic testing. I have a younger sister and an 18 year old daughter. Terrified what this could mean for them.

haven’t been given a grade yet, have definitely got to have Chemo first, this is all I know…

From all this awful news, why I am more bothered about loosing my hair, I don’t even wear makeup for gods sake!

Apologies for being a shallow hal!

Love to all you

Hi Lisajayne,
Of course you didn’t want to end up here, but glad you found us.
It is quite normal to feel as you do, so that’s just fine, it is scary, we’ve all been there.
It is a lot to take in initially & a huge shock, but it does settle down. There is often a lot of investigations which is stressful to go through, but the important thing is, it’s needed to get the best treatment plan for you, so it’s something we all just have to go through.
Triple negative means your bc is not fuelled by oestrogen, or herceptin, both of which can stimulate the bc in the first place. There are many ladies here with a similar diagnosis to you, so you’re not alone or unusual with this.
Do come & chat or vent whenever you need to.

Hi Lisajayne,

We are all in denial in the early days, this happens to other people and not us! But as my brother told me when I was diagnosed you are a person like everyone else so instead of thinking why me think why not me!

Triple neg is as Ann says not fuelled by anything in particular so treated with Chemo and radiotheraphy as the norm as there is no follow up hormone therapy to take for it at the minute.

Breast cancer no matter what type is very treatable for the vast majority of us so you have every reason to be positive although I know it doesn’t feel that way at the minute but it does get better the more you begin to understand it all. Xx Jo

Yes LJ, I definitely remember that denial feeling…”what, breast cancer, me…are you mad!’” running through my head when first told the diagnosis ?
