two hospitals

Hi,

Has anyone had to have guide wire inserted in different hospital to where you had surgery? I am booked to have wire inserted in the morning at another hospital in another town and then afernoon wide local excision at my hospital. Bit worried about the journey between, seatbelt etc.

keep smiling x

Hi Jak

This was initially offered to me but then date got changed so was all done in the same hospital after all. Once the wire is in, you don’t really notice it so not too much of a problem. However, when the nurse spoke to me originally, they were going to provide an ambulance for the journey. Maybe check with the bc nurse about that. I would have thought it would not be a good idea to drive yourself.

Hope all goes well x

Hello Jak, yes I did the two hospital trip last year. Think it happens quite a lot. Don’t worry at all. I’m in Wiltshire, but first went to Southampton for wires am, then to Salisbury pm, about 25 mile trip. Southampton kept me waiting over an hour past my appointment time, even though they knew surgeon was waiting!! Then had to have blue dye at Salisbury put in, then straight to see anaesthetist and then into theatre about 2ish. Wouldn’t have wanted to drive myself, but absolutely no problem being driven, seatbelts/wires no problem.  In fact, didn’t have any time to think about the op until I was actually on the table, so less stress there!! Out by 7pm that evening. Do hope everything goes well for you. :catvery-happy:
