Types of chemo

Hi everybody. As some of you may know I’m going through a mare of a time with my wound not healing due to blood supply failure at the T junction of my therapeutic mammoplasty. It has been a catalogue of disasters not helped by being left 3 weeks without antibiotics when it had an infection as it wasn’t producing any outward symptoms. I, however, had a temp of 38.5 and felt lousy. It was only when I had an unexplained rash from my boob to under my arm and up to my neck something was done. I’m now on week 9 post surgery and at last week’s MDT the oncologist saw the pictures and said she would have to think very carefully what to give me. The BCN said the pictures were misleading and it was actually much better in the flesh. I have a pico dressing on and have for the last 3 weeks. This has made a massive difference and along with having silver nitrate to several areas of over granulation and a different hospital acquired infection treated I finally feel a little more normal.
Does anybody have different to FEC-T which I was originally going to have. If so why? Was it just preferred treatment where you are?
Many thanks xx

Bottyboo, sorry I can’t answer your question but just had to say hello and that I had been wondering how you were getting on.  Sorry the wound is still giving you problems and hope you get sorted soon.  Take care xxxx

Hi I didn’t have FEC T, had 4 cycles of Doxetacil and Cylophsphamide, I had 8mm G3 sentinel node was clear. I had the Oncotype test to see if I would benefit from chemo. I don’t know why this chemo regime I assume my oncologist used the Oncotype results to decide.

Hi Helly. Yes still here with the wound driving me mad. It’s not painful and I know there’s no point getting cross they’ve missed things along the way. I kind of feel numb about it all. Found another lump in the reduced boob which they think is just a cyst but are going to do an ultrasound just to make sure. Strangely enough I’m more worried about it this time round as I just keep thinking I’ve no lymph nodes now so if it is abnormal what then??
How are you doing? Is the chemo as bad as we all feared? Xxx

Thank you Ann and HB2. I’m trying not to over think it until I go on Friday. Just hope my wound doesn’t compromise anything xx

Hi, I’m also having Doxetacil and Cyclophosphamide. I’ve had one treatment and have 3 to go. I think I’m having this instead of Fec-T as I have high blood pressure and the Fec apparently can exacerbate this. The SEs from the first treatment lasted about 9 days and were mainly extreme fatigue, foggy head, dry mouth and headaches. I have my next treatment in Thursday so we’ll see how that goes.

Oh Bottyboo I can’t believe you’ve now got something else to cope with. I shall have everything crossed for you that it turns out to be a cyst. Do let us know as I keep an eye out for your posts xx

Hi Anita. Went today for dressing change and they’ve arranged an ultrasound for Friday after my oncology appointment. They didn’t take a picture today for the MDT on Wednesday because apparently it looks so much better in real life and the photo doesn’t do it justice. Because it’s due to be changed on Friday the oncologist will take the dressing off to see first hand what is going on then I’ll go over to the breast unit for the new dressing and ultrasound. Hopefully will have some answers then.
How are you? Xx

Hi Anita I gave up being superstitious years ago. I do sometimes have to remind myself that it’s just poppycock though xc
