My fourth year cancer free and told I did not need mammogram this year. I felt something was wrong and paid for an ultrasound on other breast, on Friday - there is a ‘mass’ and I have been advised to have a mammogram and biopsy. I will make appointment with GP tomorrow. How can I find out how quickly I’m entitled to have these tests on NHS - only others who have been here will understand what I’m going through. Many thanks.
Hi Tinto
What a worry and I’m really sorry to hear that you’re having to go through this worry again. I so do understand what you are going through. When I saw my GP, she referred me urgently to the hospital and I was seen at the end of the week (went to her on the Monday) but I also had private health cover so went to see somebody privately a few days earlier. HOpe things move quickly for you as it’s just so awful as we all know waiting and wondering

Hi
In our area it doesn’t seem to matter whether the referral is private or NHS - which is a bonus for us NHS patients. Maybe speak to a BCN contact to see if this can be asap, or explain your urgency to your GP - they may be able to get it rushed through? In terms of entitlement I would think that you would be an immediate referral due previous ‘history’ and therefore not have to wait too long. Good Luck and hope nothing untoward shows on the mamm and biopsy.
I have an appointment on Thursday so trying to keep positive! manythanks Ruby1 and Nicky08
Good luck for your appointment on Thursday.

Tinto, so sorry to hear about the mass and I well know what you are going through having ‘accidentally’ discovered my recurrence in bone last year.
Will be thinking of you
