That’s one I’ve not heard of, I’ll check them out. Thanks for the recommendation x

Hi

I use Saga. I’ve had a mastectomy, chemo, on 3 weekly herceptin and 6 monthly zolendronic acid. They cover me and my husband for £160 annual.

I was recommended Holdaysafe.co.uk by our friends. Worth a look as very good cover and prices. We used it recently

Surprised Allclear have not offered, have you tried speaking to them to understand why? Is it just more time post treatment required?
Often when you have completed treatment you’re actually a better risk for a period of time.
AllClear do Age Uk product so do cover more risks than most.
Try pumping your info through the aggregators (Compare the Market et al) just to see if anything interesting pops out, but take care if it looks cheap as they may be totally excluding some health issues.
Happy hunting

Hiii, I couldn’t get insurance till 12 wks post radiotherapy, 16 wks post mastectomy/recon & had started meds. On letrazole, zoledrinic & abemaciclib, also declared a previous high blood pressure med that no longer on, just in case. As far as my oncologist believes, I will need no more treatment other than the current meds.
Got a 12 mth policy with INSURE WITH, I think was £370 only for Europe but its a start xx

I would also recommend insurancewith - I have bought annual multi trip policies and separate single trip for a ski holiday or a destination outside Europe. The cost is so much more reasonable than other providers. The only time I had any difficulties in getting cover was when I was having new investigations or awaiting test results. Luckily these didn’t amount to anything.
I hope your healing journey is going well and that you get to enjoy a great abroad in the knowledge that you have the cover if you need it x

I don’t know if this helps but I’ve used Cedar Tree for several years. Having finished treatment in 2017 I was told i was in remission so that’s what i said on the form. I recently made a claim because i was diagnosed with a secondary tumour and they paid up for our cancelled holiday.

I have used All clear before through one of the comparison websites but it came back as unable to insure at this time.

I had a look at Saga and they wouldn’t offer an annual policy but would let me have a 2 week policy.

I suppose at least I know that I’m able to get insurance without it costing more than the holiday.

Thanks for your help and all the best x

I’ve not heard of cedar tree but I’ll check them out.

I’m really sorry to hear that you had to cancel your holiday but at least getting a refund from your insurance was a small consolation.

I hope you get to have a holiday in the near future and send my best wishes x

I’ve just spoken to my insurer Admiral. I took out a policy in February and these last few weeks, I’ve had a problem with my liver ALP. So it is under investigation.

I phoned to notify them, as I am going away very soon, the operator was uncertain if it was classed as symptom of breast cancer (already disclosed) or a new illness, and kept asking me, my opinion. I told her it was part of a routine test through the cancer clinic, and it may possibly be the tablets but since I am not a doctor and I don’t have results from my ct scan, I was unable validate that. After an hour, and plenty of “can you hold the line while I check something” they have added it to an exclusion list so i can not claim for treatment if it relates to the liver. If I can confirm a diagnosis before I leave (unlikely) and if they accept, I can pay the difference in premium or find another insurer.

Not the outcome I expected, I was prepared to pay a bit more. The Dr has said there should be no immediate issues, so holiday here I come :grinning:

Hi Sal1,
That’s a bit pants! Where are you going, if it’s somewhere in Europe you could take a European Health Insurance card for peace of mind.
I haven’t booked a trip but we normally like to go away around the end of November to make the winter feel a bit shorter. Up to now the quotes I’ve been getting have left me wondering if my traveling days are over, Saga wouldn’t offer an annual policy but they would let me have a 16 day policy for around £260. Good to Go offered a 16 day policy for £1,750 :frowning: there were a few others Coverwise included who wouldn’t even insure me. Out of them all Insurewith are coming up with the best option but cancellation cover would only be for £1,000 and £300 baggage cover, but at least it’s affordable.
I’m seeing my oncologist at beginning of July but from conversations with her there was no mention of me having any preventative medication just the zeledronic acid infusions every 6 months.
I hope you have a fabulous holiday. Best wishes x

@juxined

Gosh your insurance quotes are making my eye water!

We’re going across the water to France. So I’m going with the theory, if I start to feel unwell we can get the train back to the UK early. But it shouldn’t come to that :crossed_fingers:

Yes we have renewed our GHIC cards, but thank you for mentioning it, and it could be useful for other travellers if they don’t know about it.

Take care x
