Don’t know if anyone will have any thoughts on this - this is the first time I have posted. I was diagnosed with BC in May 2000 - treated with lumpectomy, auxillary lymph node clearance, chemo, radiotherapy and tamoxifen. Since finishing treatment I have been fine. A few weeks ago I woke up with a pain under my arm where lymph nodes have been removed - it is now swollen - doesn’t feel like a lump more a swelling - I have made an appointment for doc next week but am a bit worried of recurrence.
Hi CharleysNanny
It could be lymphoedema and not a recurrence. Good luck with your appointment.
Let us know how you get on.

Hi CharleysNanny
I had all my lymph nodes removed earlier on this year followed by radiotherapy ( I had neoadjuvant chemo) and I noticed a swelling by my arm pit. I insisted on an emergency appointment with my G.P. yesterday. My GP diagnosed lymphoedema. I contacted my oncologist as I was worried about recurrence especially with it being in the lymph node area.My oncologist is going to check for any signs of recurrence and if he feels it is necessary will arrange for an ultra sound. He did say that if you have rads to the lymph node area there is only a 3% chance of recurrence. He is also referring me to a lymphoedema specialist for instruction on how to manage the swelling so it does not get any worse.
Hope you get on OK.
