Hi
Had 3rd rads today.isn’t it great having arm up in most uncomfortable position and chin strapped back.other than that everything going ok.
Wanted to ask when I should start using cream, and is it put all over breast area? Will ask tomorrow as it has not been mentioned so feel a little concerned.
Hi Mary - Fantastic that you are underway! I should think they mean you to use the cream every day and all over the treatment area, but check tomorrow. I am now 20 down and 10 to go!! Bet you are counting the days to your honeymoon! Love Sarah
Hi ladies
They have given me the cream today, after I asked,so have started using it.Been a busy day as had Herceptin today so 2 hospital visits,so glad to be home.Yes counting the days now to honeymoon.
Good luck with the rads Mary - you will be amazed at how quickly the sessions get ticked off. I thought 6+ weeks would take forever and a day to come to an end but it seemed to pass really quickly. I’m intrigued about the chin strapping thing - My lot just got me to turn my head to the side when they were doing the collar-bone area so that they missed my chin with the zapping.
If you are getting zapped to the armpit remember to use the cream there too. I was told 2-3 times a day and on all my blast zones … this was a bit awkward as one was from the back, was fun trying to reach it.
Hi lilac
Apparently they have only been using it for a few months.it gets attached to rods either side and pulls chin up,its not too bad really.
Thanks for advice about cream.
Hello to all,
I have been advised to use Aqueous Cream at least Three times a day.I started using it before raditoherapy. I have now had ten treatments , so far the skn seems red, but intact.Good luck to all of you!
Marjep
Hi Marjep
Like you I have completed 10 and skin is slightly red,but as I am a larger size under my boob is quite sore, which they have given me an antiseptic cream to apply.I also have used the A queous cream a few times a day.So for any larger ladies, beware of soreness underneath,They have also told me to let as much air at as possible,so I will watch TV with my little hand fan blowing under it
…Hi Mary - another tip that might be helpful is to use a (cool) hairdryer to dry under your breast after having a bath or shower. Sorry you are feeling sore, I am sore under my arm and the nurse stuck on on Fixomull dressing which is very thin and self adhesive, once on it stays for a couple of weeks, it just stops the skin shearing. Hope you don’t get too much more uncomfortable. How are things with your son? Sarah x
HI Sarah
Like the hairdryer idea, will use that thanks. Its not sore as such, tingly really, looks worse than it feels.
Things got better, he has moved to London with my nephew last weekend, but before that things where better, and he has promised me he will move on and “behave”.I was quite teary when Ieft him, but he has done the right thing and it will do him good to have a change of scenery.
Thanks for asking.hope all is ok with you
Great news that you have finished the rads Mary, now have a fabulous and romantic honeymoon!
I finished my radiotherapy on Thursday and it feels wonderful (blood tests and oncologist next week to decide on hormone therapy).
For all of you about to start, or in progress, the time really does pass and you too will be able to say another stage done.
Onwards and upwards!
