Just wanted to share my great news today that my wonderful, gorgeous, daughter has got a place at Manchester University - close enough for me to be able to get to see her and for her to come and see me. Hurrah!
I hope any other mum’s out there have also had some good news.

Well done to your daughter!
My wonderful son, has got a place at The University of Kent, his results today were History A, English B, Film Studies B, and an extra A’level of general studies that they all had to do in C.
I am over the moon and feeling very proud.
My daughter also graduated last month from uni with an English Degree, so a proud mum!
Best wishes to all parents coping with results today - I remember last year as one of the most stressful in my life when we were waiting. Can’t believe it’s just a year ago - life and son have changed so much in that short time.
Hope the celebrations go well for those who achieve their dreams - and for those having to reorientate I hope you have the strength to support your children in working out new plans.
My gorgeous daughter Robyn also had her place confirmed today at Liverpool Uni. For those supporting children whose dreams may not have quite been achieved, we were in this position last year. Despite the immediate distress I truly believe that waiting the year to do the course she wanted at the Uni of her choice was the best outcome.
Our daughter chose to resit in January this year and did brilliantly as she up’d her grades across the board; this despite actually sitting one of her exams on the day of my MX plus re-construction op following my diagnosis mid December '10.
On a purely selfish level it has been wonderful having the time to spend with her at home, before she heads off on her new journey in September!

Huge congratulations to all those children who have done so well, despite coping with all that’s been going on in our family lives.
My daughter went to uni last year and the low point was having to tell her my diagnosis on the day we picked her up for her Christmas break - and then telling her that my op was to be on Christmas Eve. She didn’t want to go back after Christmas and had a rotten few months but her new friends were wonderful and by Easter she didn’t want to come home again.
This year my son and foster son picked up their AS results. Best described as “room for improvement” but they’ll each re-take a couple of papers and should be able to increase their grades. What with me having chemo and rads during the exams and FS losing his home and contact with his family in March, I suppose they’ve done well enough!
Roll on next year…
Now, off all you proud mums (and dads!) go to Matalan and Dunelm Mill to stock them up on bedding and cooking utensils. Go on - what are you doing reading this? Get a move on!

Well done everybody. This has given me a real boost as I had felt unwell last week/listless, now I think it was just the tension of waiting for these results.
Next week my son get’s his GCSE results so…on life goes, but boy it is very good to be here for it all.

I think it’s so hard for children to cope with all this no matter how old they are. They still have their lives to get on with & the worry of having a parent or close relative with cancer must be so hard for them. Well done all of them x

I didn’t expect to see my youngest daughter even go to uni after my secondary dx in 2009 but she’s now going into her final year and I truly believe I will be here for her graduation (fingers crossed and all that!)
