Up to Birmingham for next Cyberknife meeting today

I’m going up to Birmingham again today (sunday), for our second meeting to set up a Cyberknife Charity. A few of us (The Ron Peberdy Cyberknife Trust, and The Stan Bowley Cyberknife Trust), have started working together to see if we can set up a charity that will raise awareness of the benefits of stereotactic radiotherapy, and assist people to get it. Accuray (who make Cyberknife and TomoTherapy), have very kindly donated some cash, and legal-eagles to advise on logistics of setting up/keeping going,so the meeting will be discussing this stuff.
I am determined that cancer patients are going to have access to this revolutionary treatment, because I know it will greatly extend survival - and before anyone say’s what does she know, they should take a look at what the National Radiotherapy Implementation Group report which has just been released (a Government Advisory Group). The NRIG recommend the commissioning of stereotactic rads, and advise Commissioners to take into accout the long term savings - because it can control progression, and delay the point where patients require chemotherapy, or surgery.
Will keep you informed.

Thanks Lemongrove.

Thanks for keeping us informed - hope you are keeping well through all this traveling - and rain!!

Got back from Birmingham this evening (Monday), after a very good meeting. Drove up yesterday (Sunday), in very heavy rain, and stayed overnight. Fortunately, all the legal documentation had been prepared by a professional, so our application will be going into the Charity Commission within the next couple of weeks. We are also using funds suppied by Accuray and The Stan Bowley Cyberknife Trust to employ a professional to secure funding, and commissioning a website/logo for us, so hopefully we will be up and running in the not too distant future. The name of the charity will be UKCK (United Kingdom Cyberknife), and it will provide a whole range of services.
We have some very exciting developments planned, and will be having our next meeting in the next couple of weeks.
