Hi Ladies,
For the last week I have had a severe upset stomach and terrible period pain like cramps from the breast bone to below the tummy button and in my lower back. If I eat only dry bread i’m fine but anything else I am in agony! I telephoned the oncologist and explained how I was feeing to him and he told me to come off the tamoxifen straight away and come in to the clinic tomorrow for tests etc.
Has anyone else experienced this??

I had a bad upset stomach on tamoxifen too ,it started just as loss of appetite but progressed to pain on swallowing anything (including water)I’m glad to see you have a good oncologist .A few people have bad reactions to some drugs,and there are alternatives available,my oncologist wanted to do endoscopy to see what was happening,but my symptoms disappeared once I stopped tamoxifen so I never had it done.These symptoms could be caused by tamoxifen or could be just a coincidence so he is right to investigate.I hope you get a drug which is easier for you to tolerate

Did your oncologist give you another type of hormone therapy when he took you off tamoxifen? My oncologist has taken me off it for 2 months to see if my knee pain and upset stomachs ease and if they do he talked about maybe putting me on zoladex instead.

I went on to arimidex after tamoxifen but had an allergic reaction to that,rash which progressively covered my whole body,now I have stopped arimidex,going to try femara,this is the only choice available to me now,but dreading it because of the reactions I had to other things.I had a month gap after arimidex to recover from the side effects.
Also on arimidex I had really bad knee pain,maybe this is a side effect not necessarily from the drug but maybe from lack of oestrogen.Isn’t life fun with BC?
