Useful reading..

Hi Everyone,

I’m hoping someone may be able to recommend any books for me. My sister has been diagnosed with advanced breast cancer, she’s 25. The disease is progressing quickly, I feel I need to get up to speed with what to expect and how to best care for her.

Any help is very gratefully recieved.

Hi
Sorry to hear about your sister and her diagnosis - it’s tough on her and all her family and friends, as ‘us’ secondaries ladies know only too well. I can’t help with particular books but there are several downloadable leaflets on this site - I’m sure one of the BCC team can point you in the right direction if you can’t find them. I found them very useful when I had my secondary diagnosis 3 years ago and also told my brother about this site as he wanted to know, like you, what it all means and how he could support me.
Good luck to you both
Nicky

Hi, I’m so sorry to hear of your sister’s diagnosis.
I can no longer find copy and paste since ‘updating’ my laptop toolbar but I have bumped up a thread on here for you. It’s in the Secondaries : Inspiring news and stories forum and it’s a thread I started a while ago, ‘Inspiring Secondary Stories.’ You may find some of the links there helpful. There was a good book especially for advanced bc patients which is now sadly out of print but you can find most chapters of it on advancedbc.org it’s on the left hand side see ‘Free! Guide to Living with Metastatic Disease.’
Take Care, both of you…xx

(post edited, now able to post one of the links I was looking for)
