I have been reading the threads on problems down below but you all seem to be on tamoxifen and quite young.i have had my change and havent had a period since 2000, i was put on arimidex 6 weeks ago and i am getting some side effects already but tonight when i went to the loo i had a smear of blood. is this usual side effect of arimidex especially after not haveing periods for 8 years, will be gratefull for any thoughts.

hi Tina i have been on arimidex since Jan, but i had a total hysterectomy in december so can’t really help you, it might be a good idea to get in touch with your bc nurse just to make sure your ok, and to put your mind at rest, also, if you go on www.cancerbackup.org.uk they have a section on the aromataise inhibitors and that might help as it lists some of the side effects

I too have had the same problem as you. Have been on Arimidex for 5wks now and started with spotting’s of blood over the weekend. I contacted the Onc Dept and they said it is quite normal for this to happen. It should not go on for too long or be troublesome, and if it got either of these they would get me back in to see the Doctor.
