Hello,
Hope you are well.
I had a VATS procedure -wedge resection left lung 4 weeks ago. I developed a cold last weekend and now have a gurgle on the side that was operated on when I inhale.
Should I call the thoracic ward, go to the GP, get a chest X-ray! I’m concerned that it is developing into a chest infection.
I’m have a cough, I am struggling to bring up sputum, and still have mild symptoms of a cold.
I feel like I’d been causing a fuss, but of course don’t want to get worse!
Many thanks for advice
Yvette
Oh it does upset me when worried people are concerned about ‘ bothering the doctor’ or ‘wasting doctors time’
Really that’s what they are there for if concerned about our health
Please contact both gp and surgeon
Gurgling is not what you want
Take care xx
Hi Yvette,
Thanks for posting explaining you have a gurgle in the lung on the side you had video assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) 4 weeks ago.
It’s important you report how you’re feeling and your symptoms so as @sue123 says you can contact both your GP and your thoracic team. You are not causing a fuss.
If your symptoms worsen or you felt unwell over the weekend or before you get to speak to one of your doctors, you could contact NHS 111 (not available if you are in Northern Ireland) or go to A & E if necessary.
