Hi Michelle
Welcome to the forums, where I am sure that you will receive lots of support and information from your fellow forum members. You may also find our publication helpful to read, it’s called ‘Referral to a breast clinic’, this can be downloaded from the website via the following link: breastcancercare.org.uk/content.php?page_id=12225 Please also feel free to call our helpline on 0808 800 6000 if you feel it would help to talk things through with someone in confidence. The line is open Mon-Fri 9am-5pm and Sat 9am-2pm.
Best wishes
Katie
Hi Michelle
Good luck with your appointment, let us know when it is.

HI Yvonne,
thankyou, im not sure how long the referal actully takes, i may ring my surgery to find out.
i will keep you posted.
michelle xx
just rang my doctors - referral can take up to 3 weeks?
Hey Michelle
Did they say whether you were urgently referred or is it just a normal referral? I know that most areas manage to fit us in within 2 weeks. Did you mention the colour of your discharge, Im sorry I might have missed it. Sometimes doctors will put an urgent referral in if the discharge is clear, bloody or pus like. Mine was actually dark green but because I had already been under the consultant I got seen within about 10 days. I would think that your inverted nipple would make you an urgent referral (dont panic I dont mean that you have bc it could be a few things).
Hopefully you will receive your letter soon, I got my appointments via phone call from breast clinic so maybe you will too.
Let me know

hi yvonne,
sorry i havent responded sooner,
the discharge i have had is whiteish in colour? they didnt confirm if i had been referred as an urgent case. lets hope my letter is less than 3 weeks.
xx
Hi Michelle
If you wait a few days and ring the breast clinic maybe they might be able to give you a date over the phone. Worth a try if you are stressing (as we all do), Im sure they wont mind.

Hi Michelle
It could be all sorts of things and the waiting is so difficult but I am very glad you have an appointment coming.
I went to GP with an inverted nipple and was referred on the two week thing - but i have no idea if this age related(me 49 at time). I was glad to just have the diagnosis after waiting!
take care, do nice things
Jennifer
hi jennifer,
thank you for your reply, hope you are well
what was your diagnosis?
take care

Hi Michelle
I didn’t have any discharge, just the inversion.
hah - i’d been avoiding talking about my diagnosis because there are so many benign things you might have… but i had invasive lobular cancer so I had a mastectomy in December - i wish i had thought more about re-con at the time but i just wanted to egt on with it!! I’m 3/4 the way through chemo and I’ll have radiotherapy after that. I made a speedy recovery from the op and I have been lucky in having v few side effects from chemo. I’m back at work and do about 30 hours a week.
even if you do end up with a diagnosis of cancer, it is better to know and to be able to get on with getting rid of it. Please try to stay calm (not easy I know) and be gentle on your self.

arr jennifer,
thank you so much talking about it,
you sound like very strong lady, you are an inspiration…
good on you on returning back to work,
i will def take your advise.
thanks again

ooh… me an inspiration??? - coo i am blushing… even to the top of my lil baby fluff head!! my hair’s growing back now because i have moved on to a tablet part of chemo (which is lots easier than IV).
strong? hmmm my OH would say i am just bloddy minded at times!! and i can’t type!!
i forgot to say in my last post that talking to people about it, if you feel able, is better than bottling up anxieties and these forums will give you lots of support and if you ever want to scream you can do it here in safety knowing that other people fully understand why! i haven’t used the help line that katie the bcc facilitator refers to above but i know lots of people on here have and they have found it enormously helpful.
