Very new to all of this

Hi, this whole subject is completely new to me. I am 44 years old. I found a lump in my breast in November saw my GP in December and was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on 13/01/12. I had a lumpectomy on 02/02/12 so still very sore. The thing is I have had pain for months in my hip and I am very worried, it’s worse in the mornings, it’s not a severe pain just a nagging aching pain, I haven’t actually mentioned this, do you think I am worrying about nothing?

Hi Newtothis

Sorry you’ve had to join us here.

If you’re worried about something, best to mention it. You don’t say if your lymph nodes were affected at all - many hospitals don’t offer routine scans unless they are, and not always then.

Do you have a BCN? If so, why not give her a call in the morning?

Take care

Hi, I am sorry you have had to join the Forums but you will find them so supportive. The problem with having a Breast Cancer diagnosis is an ache or pain that normally you would ignore becomes something sinister and a worry. Do mention it to your team when you go back for your results. Hopefully it will be nothing to worry about but you need to be reassured one way or the other. If it is related to the Breast Cancer the sooner it is known the better and appropriate treatment can be started. You might like to contact the BCN or Helpline and have a chat with them.
I have been worrying about rib pain for months and had a bone scan last week. I would love to know the results but have another week to wait. However the radiographer doing the scan told me unofficially to her eyes nothing stood out badly. Hopefully your ache is just wear and tear.
Crossing everything for you.

Hello &welcome here & hoping you’ll recover quickly from your op. I assume you will see your surgeon about the pathology results from your operation soon and I would mention it then or as suggested before call your BCN or the helpline here. Depending on your results scans may or not be done after you receive your results. All the best!

Thank you all for your lovely welcome and nice comments , its good to have somewhere to go to ask questions, where people understand how you feel…and can answer the questions you havent actually been able to say out loud yet …thank you

Hi newtothis
I’m also sorry you find yourself here (hugs).
I have found through my experiences with BC if something is
worrying you it is always best to mention it.

thank you so much for the nice welcome…might give them a call in the morning x

Hello New to this.
How are you doing?

You are sounding quite strong. I’m Fran and had the same op as you, i was sore for quite a while. Two weeks I had an ANC.
I would mention it to your bcn or at least when you get your next appt with the consultant.
Good luck with it all
Love Fran
