Very new to this.

Hi

I am 49, and was diagnosed with breast cancer yesterday. At the moment it appears that in a way I have been luck, caught early, and very treatable. It is strange how I feel at the moment two days ago I felt full of health, today every small ache or pain makes me think they are all connected,  I know this is underlying shock.

I would like to say that the care and information (though I may not have taken it all in yet) has been wonderful, and I don’t think I could have met more caring, considerate nurses, doctors or my consultant.

I know that this sounds vain but my nipple has to be removed, has anyone had any experience of nipple reconstruction?

Dear misty64

Welcome to the BCC forum.  You have come to the right place for good honest support from fellow members.

While you are waiting for others to respond to your query about nipple reconstruction you might find it helpful to look in the section:  Going through treatment/surgery.  If you put “nipple reconstruction” into the search facility it does bring up a few related threads.  Or you could start a new thread yourself in the surgery section.

Hope that helps!  You might also find it helps to talk things over with someone on our Helpline.  They can offer practical information and emotional support.  Opening times are 9-5 on weekdays and 10-2 on Saturdays.  The number is 0808 800 6000

Very best wishes

Hi misty64, I too have had a lumpectomy with the removal of my nipple, it looks a bit like a barbie boob but with a few scars. I had my op on 28th august. I start chemo on 3rd October followed by radiotherapy and arimidex for 5 years. My BC nurse said we will talk about nipple reconstruction after the treatment is finished. Have you had your surgery yet?
