very painful lump under my arm - should I be worried?

Hi, I have a lump under my armpit that is extremely painful (i think the pain is more because the pressure from my bra is aggravating it - its really uncomfortable and such a relief when I get home and dont have to wear it!!). It started about 2 weeks ago and is now the size of a 50p coin. Its probably just an infection and i’ll go to the docs tommorow to get some antiobiotics but cant help have this nagging worry in the back of my mind in case its anything more.

My mum has had a recent battle with breast cancer - started in her lympth nodes and spread - i dont know all the details as i have no contact with her so only know from my sister brief details on it. I guess that’s what’s causing the niggles about what this is.

The lump is movable - it feels quite lumpy and uneven… any advice would be appreciated x

Good idea to have it checked by a doctor - I see you intend to do this.  He/she may refer to a breast clinic for further investigations depending on what he/she thinks may be the problem.

Hopefully it’s not cancerous but it sounds like it would put your mind at rest to have it properly checked.
