Very sore breast with nipple change

Hi
I am 43 years old and have had extreme breast pain for the last week. I have had weird skin changes to both nipples over the past few years and sore breasts, which I always thought was hormonal. the skin to my nipples looks ‘plaqued’, with lots of little white bumps on the skin which have joined up to make thickened areas. Now I have the tiniest red areas around my nipples, on top of these thickened areas and the pain is horiffic. A bra, tee shirt, anything hurts. The pain radiates to my armpit and also my collar bone and is making me feel sick. My breast feels as if it wants to explode. I have been referred to the breast clinic and will be seen on 3/11/10 which is a relief but I cannot find anyone else describing the changes I have got. Does anyone else have these thickenings of white lumps (really tiny) to the nipple skin? My nipples also flake which is weird.
I would love to hear from anyone else who has had the same and can give me some reassurance.

Hi Beth1403,

I dont have what you describe, however I didn’t want your post to go unanswered.

Some women get white bumps on the nipple area which are glands, and they produce oil, and these can get infected, especially if squeezed. I don’t know if these are the white bumps you are describing.

Sorry I cant help anymore with your post, hopefully someone who can help a bit more will reply to you soon.
