I have just had a mammogram and ultrasound a year on from treatment. Had WLE chemo and rads, triple negative so no tamoxifen. I have had a lump in my breast ever since surgery(big one) and every time i mention it they say prob fluid or scar tissue. Mentioned it at this check up and was sent for mammo as a safe guard. Was devastated to get a letter today asking me to come for a core biopsy. I think I am more scared this time, all i can think now is Ive had chemo and rads and the cancer is still there, it was a grade three so I know it was aggresive. Has anyone else had this happen, I only finished all my treatment in march love lizzy

Hi Izzy
My treatment was WLE, sentinal node biopsy, radiotherapy and Tamoxifen. Grade 2 invasive. I have also had a lump since surgery last Oct. Earlier in the year, they sent me for a scan as it bothered me and the doctor told me that it looked like cancer on the scan screen but she knew from my notes that it was fluid (a resolved haematoma from the surgery). She drew some out to show me and drained the site. It came back quite quickly however, and I am due a mammogram soon so will probably get recalled if it shows on the mammogram like it does on the ultrasound. Hope this puts your mind at rest a bit. Lets us know how you get on
Love
Debbie
Ooops sorry, Lizzy. Tamoxifen brain…Lol
Debbie
Hi lizy,
i’m sorry i can’t help you but can only reiterate what alison has said, when do you go for your core biopsy?
obviously the medics have to check things out because of your history…hopefully it will be nothing to worry about.
in the mean time you are going to be worried sick, so please do try to talk to someone.
You know we are always here for you.

Hi Lizy
I haven’t gone through what you are going through but just wanted to say we are here for you. this BC journey is terrifying.

thanks all of you for your replies. I rang the breast care nurse, she checked my notes and said that it was unclear but not to worry(yeah right), she did say about six people aweek get recalled so felt a bit better about that. I go next monday for the biopsy, not looking foreward to that, does anyone no if it hurts? love lizzy
Hi Izzy
Like you I had a monster - 7cm lump in the pectoral muscle 5cm lump in the anx lymph node and serveral small nodular lumps in my right breast — 4 X FEC and 4 X Taxotere chemo treatment first … had an MRI last week and it’s ALL GONE!! that was with a poor prognosis! (Oh and just for fun and giggles Triple Neg)
You don’t know whats around the corner, so hang in there - it’s crap! Also; if you don’t feel you are getting the answers you want - there is more than one Clinical Onc or Breast Surgeon out there and it’s your right to chose!!
Keep Smiling

Hello lizzy
The waiting is always the worse. But as far as the biopsy is concerned, I had one in April it is nothing to really to worry about. If it is the one where they do it in the mamogram room just stay calm and as still as possible. The Dr said he had never done one so quickly because I kept calm. I told him he had obviously never had his legs waxed, as that was worse
(lol!, Dr never laughed, but the nurses did!)
Good luck and hope the results come back quickly
Love Helfire
It doesn’t hurt at all Lizzy, they numb the area first then warn you before they do it as it sounds loudish and you can jump if you are not expecting it. A lovely male doctor did mine. I was refferred for tests after finding the lump and was phoned with a last minute cancellation app. 2 days after seeing doctor. Consequently I had no information sheets and was terrifed by the time they led me into the ultrasound room. I had a fine needle aspiration then the core biopsy. Then all the information arrived the day after!!! I always think forewarned is forearmed…or something like that. Good luck. I’ll be thinking of you.
Love
