Very worried

Hi
I’m new to this forum and just found it quite by accident.
I found a lump in my left breast last Saturday and went to my health centre today - was due a smear test so got that done too. The lady dr was lovely and said she was sending an urgent referral to the breast clinic.
Got a call this afternoon to say I have an appointment on Monday morning (14th Sept).
Really pleased I got an appointment so quickly but it has made me worry more now.
My husband is coming along with me and the gp I saw explained what would happen so I am trying to prepare myself for it.
I am terrified of needles so not looking forward to it at all, but know that that is the least of my worries.
Everything is going through my mind and I’m just really worried.
After reading some of the post here it has helped but just felt I had to post for some comfort and support.
I can’t really talk to anyone about it in my family as they all have their fair share of stuff going on just now.
Thanks to everyone who has posted their stories, it does help to read them and realise you’re not alone.

hi Katie
don’t (well try not to!) worry about speed of your appointment - that is good ! they are usually pretty quick…mine was a couple of days in fact. I think, from my experience that you’ll have a mammogram and /or ultrasound and possibly a biopsy, which really is ok - you’ll get a local anaesthetic…I am bad with needles too,but didn’t look and it really was over quite quickly and honestly didn’t hurt afterwards - you can always take painkillers too. The most difficult thing is the wait for results but you’ll get lots of support on here. Also in my experience the breast care nurses are wonderful - kind and patient and nothing is too much trouble. xxchipperxx

Try not to think the worst. My first lump turned out to be a fluid-filled cyst, which they drained on the day.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Hi everyone
I’m delighted to say my hospital appointment went very well after a sleepless night.
It turned out to be a cyst which was drained there and then.
I’m so relieved!
To go back for a further check up in 6 weeks time.
Hope you are all ok and coping with any treatments you may be having.
Thanks for all your messages of support.

oh that is good news !

Hi
I am in the same situation as Katie. I am waiting for my appointment at the hospital this coming Thursday. GP has told me what to expect but the sleepless nights started last Thursday when I saw my GP.

Havent told anyone except my husband who is trying to be supportive but doesnt really know what to say or do to make things better, God love him. I just wish Thursday was over. xx

hi chesterbabe - am so sorry you have to go through this…you’ll get through it though…feel free to post anything on here as you’ll find lots of support and comfort. Thinking of you with fingers very crossed for a good outcome
