Hi everyone,
I went to see my doctor yesterday and haven’t slept all night.
I found a pea size lump two weeks ago in my left breast located to the right side of my nipple, i have had some pain, a pulling feeling and what i can only describe as a prickly feeling, so i decided to visit my doctor.
I explained my symptoms to her and she then examined my left breast and then my right breast and felt the lump streight away, she described the lump as elongated. she then told me she would refare me to the “cancer specialist” to get it checked out.
just hearing the C word freaked me out, she told me not to worry and that i would be seen within two weeks.
i am now worried sick but thanks to this site know im not alone, thanks for shareing x
Hi worried sick and welcome to the BCC forums
Whilst you await replies from your fellow users I am posting a link to the ‘Referral to a breast clinic’ publication from BCC which you may find useful, details of our helpline are in there too so please call if you have any queries:
Best wishes
Lucy
Hi Worried sick
so sorry you have this hanging over you. You have done the right thing in getting it checked out and I am pleased your doctor has acted quickly. Hopefully you will get an early appointment and have your mind put to rest. Most lumps turn out to be benign changes, but definite lumps need to be checked by experts. It is a worry though. Well done for noticing the lump and well done for acting on it. You could easily bury your head.
I really hope you can get some rest today and the time passes quickly until you are seen. I do have bc, but i had prickling in my “good” breast and it turned out to be nothing, just hormonal changes. We get a lot of good news on this site where lumps turn out to be nothing sinister. I really hope you get to comne back and tell us that all is fine. Keep posting any questions or just to unload how you are feeling, we all sympathise.
take care

Yep totally agree, the first mention of the C word is like a sledge hammer. It is good that nowadays everything is checked out so quickly even the tiniest little lump, that is why there are so many false alarms. Is it 9 out of 10 turn out to be negative.
i know when i went for mine to be checked I heard the radiologists say to a student, ’ we have had a good run of good news today’
The waiting is horrid, everyone will tell you it is the worse part of the whole proceedure, even if you need furthur treatment. That is why everyone is so supportive, they remember what it was like right at the very begining when you were in the waiting room.
all the very best, and do keep coming on here for support.
Hi there,
as OAL says it’s the waiting that’s worst.
You’ve done the right thing in going to the doctor, and now your lump is being checked. If it is bad news, it will be treated and treatment for this disease is increasingly successful. I was where you are in December, and am now in the lucky position of needing no more treatment with a really good prognosis.
Lots of luck and sending you a big hug.
Let us know how you get on
xx
