Waiting for a scan

On Thursday of this week I returned to hospital for the results of a mammogram and biopsy carried out on Monday.

I was not too worried as I had a mammogram in September 2010 but to my dismay learned that I had a 2.5cm squamous cell growth. To make matters worse I was informed that the biopsy indicated the cells did not appear to be breast cells therefore there was a likelihood that this was a secondary cancer.

I am now booked in for a full body scan on 9th May, I have no other symptoms but from the questions I was asked about breathlessness and a cough, it seems likely that my Consultant suspects lung cancer.

I have searched on various sites but can find nothing to suggest any link between the lungs and the breast.

In addition both my husband and myself are fairly certain that my Consultant said the squamous cell growth was pre-cancerous. Does anyone know if this is possible and has anyone experienced anything similar?

Hello Jayzee’s granny,

I’m sorry, i don’t know anything at all about links between the two - but the 9th of May seems a long time for you to worry! Could you get back to the hospital and ask for more information? Or would your GP be able to help?

I do hope that you get the information you need. Very best wishes, Mo x
